COHOES >> The Albany County Republican Committee unanimously elected state Senate candidate Chris Davis as chairman of the city Republican Committee at its annual meeting.
Davis, 32, who is running an aggressive campaign in the 44th State Senate District this year, has held various positions in government, academia and the private sector over the past decade, serving as policy coordinator for state Health Department. Politically, he has been active in the Young Americans for Liberty, the Young Republicans and has worked on various local and presidential campaigns. “The Republican Party is very enthusiastic to endorse Chris Davis who dedicated himself to political and community service and will be a huge asset to the residents and businesses of Cohoes,” said county Chairwoman Christine Benedict.
Davis, who is married and has three children and holds a master’s degree in public health and a doctorate in epidemiology, said the city committee has made great progress made in just five months since it became active.
“I have a lot on my plate with the Senate race and being a family man, but I am doing this because the people deserve better,” Davis said. “As a lifelong Cohosier, it is an honor to be elected to this position of leadership. Part of my Senate campaign’s goal is helping to grow and shape the re-emerging GOP in the area, one that values individual liberties and recognizes the need to have an effective government that is results oriented.”
