Fr. Aaron Dowdell O.SS.T
TROY - Father Aaron Dowdell, O.SS.T., 74, of Balretimore, MD and a member of the Order of the Most Holy Trinity and of the Captives (the Trinitarians), died at Mercy Hospital on February 13, 2017 as a sult of lung complications. Born in Troy, NY he was the son of the late John W. Dowdell and Mary E Ward.
Father graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1960 and cultiCollife vated many friendships. He also graduated with a BA in English from Siena lege. Father Aaron entered postulancy for religious at Sacred Heart Monastery, Pikesville, MD. He received the Habit of the Order on August 11, 1967 and pro-Septemfessed his simple vows August 12, 1968. He made his solemn vows ber 8, 1972, was ordained a Deacon January 27, 1973 and then a Priest April 20, 1974 at St. Jerome Church in Hyattsville, MD. Father Aaron served the Church in Baltimore, Washington DC, Philadelphia, New Orand leans, Trenton, New York, Brooklyn.
Father Aaron was an vocate for serving the poor, aged and disabled, those living with HIV/AIDS, the homeless and the working poor. All those who met him in ministry ofwould ten comment on his interpersonal skills and his love for them. He possessed a clear vision to identify the best services that would assist them in whatever difficulty they were experiencing.
He is survived by his siblings; Carol, John, Ann Marie and Paul and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Mark.
By his own wishes, Father Aaron was cremated.
A Mass of Christian al followed by interment in the community cemetery is scheduled for 11:00 AM on June 13, 2017 at Holy Trinity Spiritual Center, 8400 Park Heights Avenue, Pikesville, MD 21208. The date was chosen to allow greater participation by his religious confreres, his family and his friends. All who knew him are invited to participate in the funerservices. al
