Downtown Troy BID announces summer events schedule
TROY, N.Y. >> The Downtown Troy Business Improvement District unveiled its 2017 events schedule Thursday, including annual family-friendly programming including Rockin’ on the River, River Fest, Troy Pig Out and Chowder Fest.
The Rockin’ on the River summer concert series will return Wednesdays from 5 to 8:30 p.m. in Riverfront Park beginning June 7 and continuing through Aug. 9. Meanwhile, River Fest is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 17; Troy Pig Out will be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 15; and Chowder Fest will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8.
“Summer is shaping up to be the best season yet, with another year of signature special events organized by the Downtown Troy BID,” Mayor Patrick Madden said in a news release. “From our regionally-recognized restaurants and vibrant small businesses to the annual celebrations of Collar City culture and cuisine, Troy continues to be the premiere summer destination for the Capital Region.”
These events are in addition to other regular programs offered by the Downtown Troy BID, including Troy Night Out, Fitness in the Park, Restaurant & Craft Beer Wee and the For Rent and Discover Troy events.
“We are looking forward to yet another full season of free, family friendly programming,” said Katie Hammon, the group’s executive director, in a news release. “Downtown Troy has a wide array of shops, restaurants, and places to explore, and we are excited to continue welcoming new and seasoned guests to Troy’s historic, walkable downtown through these widely-attended events.”
