Hoosick Falls head coach Eamonn Degraaf said his team struggled in the game and made too many mistakes against a strong opponent.

“We turned the ball over 20 times in the first half and they made a lot of threes,” Degraaf said. “The game plan didn’t go as we expected and that’s a very good team over there, they could go a long way.”

Hoosick Falls was led by two of their seniors, Kelly Pine and Ally Burdick, who scored 11 points and 13 points respectively in their last game with the team.

Pine led the team this year in field goals made at 95, 3-point goals at 30 and total points at 371. Pine has been on the team since she was in eighth grade and will be missed by the coach and fellow teammates.

The team had a strong season overall, beating Hudson in the first round of the tournament 65-50. Against the defending champs from Glens Falls, however, Hoosick Falls couldn’t keep up.

Degraaf said he was proud of how his team competed this year and proud of the seniors he is losing.

“It was a good season, we went 17-5, it’s a pretty good season,” Degraaf said. “Hoosick Falls basketball has come a long ways over this last five or six years and a lot of it has to do with these girls that are leaving us. The seniors I have are great kids, Kelly Pine has been on varsity for five years and she is a huge reason Hoosick Falls basketball is on the map now and I hope the younger kids keep it that way.”
