TROY, N.Y. » Even nearly three weeks after the La Salle hockey season ended, Logan DiScanio still wakes up at 5:30 a.m. every morning to go work out.

The senior’s career with the Cadets might be over, but he’s still got tryouts for juniors leagues as he pursues his goal of playing hockey at the college level.

So he’s had little time to bask in the glory of La Salle’s first Section II championship in the last 16 years. But the significance of it isn’t lost on him.

“It really brought everyone together more than anything,” DiScanio said. “We would pack our rink at Hudson Valley. There’d be so many students there, the community would come. It was such an amazing thing for everyone to be there and support us. When everyone came together it was a great thing for La Salle.”

DiScanio led the Cadets with 26 goals and 31 assists. He often defended some of Section II’s best goal scorers, and was the captain on a team that finished 19-3-2. He can now add Troy Record Player of the Year to his list of accolades.

He still remembers the feeling of finally winning the Section II title, and often finds a moment here or there to watch video of the game’s pivotal moments. La Salle defeated rival Shenendehowa, 6- 5, in double overtime on Feb. 28 at Union College to capture that elusive trophy.

The season ended a week later near the Canadian border. La Salle dropped a 2-1 decision to Section 10 champion Massena in the New York State quarterfinals. It brought DiScanio’s illustrious La Salle career to a close, but it still showcased what he was capable of doing.

“He’s got a great set of hands,” head coach Tim Flanagan said. “Probably all goal scorers have a great set of hands. And a great shot and a great scoring touch. He has all those. I think he’s really smart. When the play develops and he’s got another sense.

“When the goalie thinks he’s going to pass, he shoots and scores. When he doesn’t have much to shoot at, he’s always able to find his line mates.”

DiScanio still gets out to the ice whenever he can. He’s as focused as he’s ever been to accomplish what he knows he can. He acknowledged it can be a lit- tle stressful to figure out his future, but what he’s already done indicates that future is bright.

Until he knows where he goes, he’ll just enjoy the 5:30 a.m. wake-ups and the rewinds of La Salle’s Section title win.

“It’s been an honor to be a captain of this team for two years,” DiScanio said. “To lead this lead this team to a section championship is one of the best things that has happened in my life so far. I’m truly grateful for every moment of it.”

has added another achievement to his highly decorated career. The Peoria, Illinois native was named to the College Basketball Invitational All-Time Team.

Bisping was joined on the All-Time CBI Team by Kenneth Faried (Morehead State), Doug McDermott (Creighton), Larry Nance, Jr. ( Wyoming), and Andrew Nicholson (St. Bonaventure). The College Basketball Invitational All-Time Team was created in conjunction with the celebration of the CBI’s 10th Anniversary. The team was selected by a fan vote from an official ballot of 24 candidates.

Bisping was named the 2014 College Basketball In- vitational Most Valuable Player after leading Siena to the first national postseason tournament title in school history. He also helped guide the Saints to a CBI appearance in 2016, and averaged 15.6 points and 7.3 rebounds in seven career tournament games.
