The Muslim Soup Kitchen Project will host the second National Muslim Soup Kitchen Day on Saturday, April 29, in partnership with a number of non-Muslim organizations and individuals in the Capital Region.

Free meals will be served at five community meal sites, including Joseph’s House and Shelter in Troy, and delivered to at least 10 other sites, including the Lansing Inn, Hills Inn, Burns Apartments and Unity House residential housing in Troy and Charlie’s Pantry in New Lebanon. Volunteers will also be helping out at Patroon Land Farm, 132 Ketcham Road, Voorheesville, from 11 a.m. to noon.

In preparation, volunteers from the Muslim Soup Kitchen Project and Temple Sinai Slice of Heaven Breads will come together from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 23, at the Muslim Community Center, 21 Lansing Road, Schenectady, to bake desserts.

“The purpose of National Muslim Soup Kitchen Day is to involve everyone — people from all faiths — working together to make sure no one goes hungry in their community, creating unity through serving humanity,” said Uzma Popal, director of the Muslim Soup Kitchen Project, in a news release.
