Junior Dukes

TROY - Junior Dukes, 86, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday April 8, 2017.

Born in Greeleyville, SC, he was the son of the late Thomas and Augusta Dukes.

Junior worked for Portec, Inc. in Troy until his retirement.

He was a beloved family man and loved being around people. There wasn’t a place that he would go that he wouldn’t run into someone he knew.

Junior is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Thomasena Dukes; his children, Debra Dukes and John (Dorothy) Dukes; his grandchildren, Michelle Dukes, Maurice Dukes, Rahman Dukes, Danicia Dukes, Shaneaka Dukes and Rafael Anderson; his sister, Levolia (the late John) Thompson, his daughter-in-law Winnie Dukes and his sister-in-law Fretta (the late Charles) Dukes. He is also survived by 7 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Junior was predeceased by his son, Ronald Dukes and 10 siblings.

The family would like to thank the staff of Van Rensselaer Manor for the wonderful care given to Junior throughout his stay there.

Those wishing to remember Junior in a special way may make memorial contributions in his name to the Fifth Avenue A.M.E. Zion Church, 189 Fifth Avenue, Troy, NY 12180.

Funeral service for Junior will be held on Friday, AprilApril 14th at 11:00 a.m. at the Fifth Avenue A.M.E. Zion Church, 189 Fifth Avenue in Troy.

Calling hours will be held Friday at the Church from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.

Burial will be held in Memory’s Garden, Colonie.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted by the family to the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, 565 Fourth Ave. Troy, NY 12182.
