NISKAYUNA 9, COLUMBIA 2 >> Niskayuna exploded for a sevenrun seventh inning to cruise to a 9-2 Suburban Council win on the road at Columbia Monday afternoon. Silver Warrior Ben Funyak and Liam Davidson went 2-for- 4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Alex Ritzenthal­er went five innings for Niskayuna, giving up two runs on two hits, walking three and striking out four. Funyak pitched the final two innings to get the win. Columbia mustered just two hits in the contest, but took advantage of three Niskayuna errors to score. LASALLE 12, CATHOLIC CENTRAL0>> LaSalle owned the battle of Rennselaer County private institutio­ns Monday afternoon with a 12- 0 win with the Cadets pitching staff combining for a threehit shutout. Quentin Crudo earned the win, giving up just two hits and striking out seven.

LaSalle’s Nick Hansen hit two doubles for two RBI and a run scored. Noah Grandjean added a triple, two RBI and a run scored. MOHONASEN3, TROY0>> The Warriors scored two runs in the fifth inning to drop Troy in Suburban Council action on Monday. Ryany Lanaro went seven inning for the win. A. J. Savioe hit a single and had two RBI in the win. Troy’s John Germinerio had two hits in the loss. CBA 8, BURNT HILLS 0 >> Davis Payne struck for a threerun home run in the sixth inning to put the Brothers in control on the road at Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake in Suburban Council action Monday.

Drew Signor earned the win, going six innings for the win. Burnt Hills starter Cameron Rhodes went five innings before giving way to Dylan Beaulac and Nate Farnum.

SCHALMONT 16, WATERVLIET 2 >> Schalmont has two big innings, a five-run third and a sixrun sixth to lead to a rout of Watervliet, 16-2 Monday afternoon. Alec Burchardt went 1-for- 4 with a grand slam, for four RBI and a run scored. Dennis Durrant went 3-for-3 with two singles and a double with Brian Mahar going 3-for- 4 with three singles and two runs scored.

On the mound, Ryan Pepicelli went five innings, allowing two runs on two hits. He walked six and struck out 10. SHAKER 6, BETHLEHEM 5 >> Bethlehem fell to Shaker, 6- 5 Monday afternoon in Suburban Council action.

ICHABOD CRANE 10, ALBANY ACADEMY 2 >> A sevenrun first inning powered the Riders past the Cadets Monday afternoon and gave starting pitcher Dave Yankowski a cushion to cruise to a 10-2 win. Yankowski went five innings, allowed two runs on five hits. He walked four and struck out two. Chad Salazar came on for a twoinning relief performanc­e to secure the win.

George Cox led Ichabod Crane with a hit, a double, RBI and two runs scored. Albany Academy senior Brett Young had a solo home run and scored another for the Cadets. HOOSIC VALLEY 11, HOOSICK FALLS 1 >> Hoosic Valley pushed across 11 runs on nine hits Monday afternoon to power past Hoosick Falls.

Hoosic Valley was led by Tom Madigan’s two-run double and two-run home run. Dale Maxon and issac Carlo each added a hit and a double in the win. Ryan Sanders had an RBI single for Hoosick Falls.

Mike Vellucii earned the win for Hoosic Valley.

SOFTBALL

TROY 11, MOHONASEN 1 >> Troy High pitcher Hunter Levesque went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored and in the circle she went five innings with six strikeouts in the Suburban Council clash Monday afternoon. Serafina French went 2-for- 4 with a home run and two RBI for the Flying Horses. SHAKER 14, BETHLEHEM 5 >> Shaker scored in five of seven Monday afternoon to take the Suburban Council contest against Bethlehem, 14- 5.

Meg Kutey had a hit, a triple and a home run for five RBIs, Bianca Wilson had three singles and a double for two RBI. Lexi Ratigan and Kelsey Wells each had two hits. Winning pitcher Allie Lajeunesse had four strikeouts on the day.

For Bethlehem, Olivia Miranda had a single and a home run for three RBIs on the day.

0>> Cohoes scored in all five innings Monday afternoon, scoring 14 runs on 14 hits. Pitcher Isabelle Dechiaro threw a non-hitter against the Blackbirds, striking out six and walking three on the afternoon.

Voorheesv il l e was plaqued by 10 errors in the field Monday as Dechiaro delivered at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a triple. RENSSELAER 17, HEATLY 7 >> Rensselaer put up multiple run innings in the fourth and fifth innings for 11 runs and cruised to a 17-7 win over Heatly.

Giana Harwood led the Rams with a 3-for- 4 day, 3 runs scored and two RBI in the win. BALLSTON SPA 20, ALBANY 0 >> Ballston Spa freshman Lauren Kersch started her first varsity softball game and threw a no-hitter in her complete game victory. She struck out 13 batters out of the 15 outs recorded, walking just one Albany batter on the day at the Adirondack Sports Complex.

Eighth- grade shortstop Ana Gold stepped up for her first varsity at-bat and hit a solo home run in the lead- off spot Monday. He just missed hitting the for cycle, missing a triple on Monday and scorign three times. Grace Thompson scored three times, adding a walk to her single, double and home run.

BOYS LACROSSE

BALLSTON SPA 17, ALBANY 1 >> The Scotties improved to 2-1 in Suburban Council action with an overpoweri­ng 10-goal first quarter against Albany Monday in Suburban Council action.

Zac Schette led the Scotties with five goals and an assist. Sam Swingruber added two goals and two assists in the win as Austin Dekewicz owned the faceoff circle winning 14 out of 15 face- offs.

GIRLS LACROSSE

COLUMBIA 16, NEW HARTFORD 5 >> Columbia’s Caroline Hirt scored four goals and dished out three assists in the Blue Devils non- league win Monday afternoon. Molly Tesoriero added a goal nd three assists with Ciara Mazzone added five goals. Olivia Massey had nine saves in the cage.

ALBANY ACADEMY 7, ICHABODCRA­NE0>> Albany Academy swept Ichabod Crane in non-league boys tennis action Monday afternoon. BETHLEHEM 9, GUILDERLAN­D 0 >> Bethlehem swept Guilderlan­d, 9- 0, in Suburban Council tennis action Monday afternoon. AVERILL PARK 8, SCHENECTAD­Y 1 >> Averill Park swept all three doubles and only have up a point in the No. 2 singles match Monday afternoon in Suburban Council action against Schenectad­y. TACONIC HILLS 7, WATERFORD 0 >> Taconic Hill improves to 4-2 with a sweep of Waterford- Halfmoon Monday afternoon in Patroon League action.

Taconic Hill hopes to improve its record in the second half of the season as the league schedule circles back to face first-half opponents. SCHALMONT4, COBLESKILL­3 >> Wins in the No. 2, 3 and 5 singles along with a win at No. 2 doubles powered the Sabres to the Colonial Council win Monday afternoon.
