CBA 9, AVERILL PARK 1 >> Averill Park Warriors Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 9-1 loss to Christian Brothers Academy on Wednesday. Christian Brothers Academy scored on a triple by Nick Melillo in the first inning and a fielder’s choice by Drew Carroll in the second inning.

CBA pushed across four runs in the third inning.

Griffin Kuhn earned the win for Christian Brothers Academy. He threw five innings, allowing one run, four hits, and striking out three.

Averill Park’s Matt Romano took the loss for Averill Park, going two and a third innings, surrenderi­ng seven runs, and four hits.

Nick Marola led CBA with a 3-for-3 day and two RBI.

WATERFORD 2, HOOSIC VALLEY 0 >> Waterford scored a run in the first and fourth innings, enough to get past Hoosic Valley as Connor Houle pitched a complete game shutout, giving up three hits, walking one batter and striking out 2 Thursday afternoon. Robert Walek went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

COLONIE 17, ALBANY 1 >> Colonie’s Nate Toms hit two home runs and Bobby Roemer had three hits in the Raiders 17-1 win over Albany in Suburban Council action Thursday.

SOFTBALL

TROY2, COLUMBIA0>> Maddy Rifenberic­k hit a two-run home run to power Troy past Columbia Thursday afternoon. Pitcher Hunter Levesque pitched a complete game shutout with six strike outs.

Not to be outdone in the circle, Columbia’s Maddie Burns was stellar with 17 strikeouts on the afternoon.

SCHALMONT 4, COHOES 2 >> Cohoes fell to Schalmont, 4-2 on the road Thursday afternoon. Both squads scored a pair of runs in the third inning, but the Sabres added two in the bottom of the fifth for the goahead runs. Tigers pitcher Isabelle DeChiaro went the distance, striking out three in the loss.

TACONIC HILLS 4, MAPLEHILL 0>> Taconic Hills starter Rachel Nielson pitched a complete game two-hit shutout against Maple Hills Thursday afternoon. She walked two batters and struck out 10 in the outing. Maple Hill’s starter Alysa Houghtalin­g went the distance, gave up four runs on six hits, walked seven and struck out 10.

BOYS LACROSSE

CBA 16, AVERILL PARK 3 >> Christian Brothers Academy’s Anthony Pizzola scored three goals and had an assist in Thursday’s Suburban Council win. Dylan Van Epps added three goals in the win.

GIRLS LACROSSE

AVERILL PARK 17, SOUTH GLENS FALLS 7 >> Kenzie Minkler had five goals and an assist in Averill Park’s non-league win over South Glens Falls Thursday afternoon. Hannah Katz had three goals with Anita Retano adding two goals and an assist in the win. South High was led by Annika Kreppein with five goals.

SHEN 11, BETHLEHEM 10 >> Shenendeho­wa’s Kendra Harbinger scored six goals in the Plainsmen’s 11-10 win over Bethlehem in Suburban Council action Thursday afternoon. Lauren Gray added three goals for Shen. Bethlehem was led by Lindsey Ayres with four goals and kathryn Sanciilio’s three goals and assist.

SCHALMONT 7, RAVENA 0 >> The Sabres swept Ravena in Colonial Council action Thursday afternoon.
