TROY - Almassette Kohar Tatios Minasian Barkamian of Troy, NY has passed on Thursday April 20th, 2017 at her home on Federal Street.

Born in Chmshgadza­k, Armenia she was the only daughter of the late Tatios and Armenouhie Minasian, survivors of the Genocide. Almassette emigrated to Aleppo, Syria with her family at the age of 3 months. In Aleppo, she was an active member of the Armenian community and earned her diploma to become a seamstress. At the agage of 18 she married the late Aram H. Barkamian and moved to Beirut, Lebanon where she was active in the Armenian Red Cross. In 1980 she emigrated to the U.S., where she worked with her husband in their family owned restaurant and was a faithful member of the Holy Cross Armenian Apostolic Church. She was a devoted mother, grandmothe­r and mother and great grandmothe­r who proudly cherished her Armenian heritage and instilled those values in her family.

She is survived by her five children, Mr. & Mrs. Khachik and Marie Barkamian, Mr. & Mrs. Armen and Mary Barkamian, Mr. & Mrs Ardo and Nadia Barkamian, Mr. & Mrs. Sona and Ara Mahserdjia­n and Ms. Armig Barkamian, as well as her 11 grandchild­ren and 5 great grandchild­ren. Our Mama, Medz-Mama and Nene will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Funeral services will be held Monday April 24th,2017 at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Armenian Apostolic Church, 101 Spring Ave. Troy. Interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cem- etery. Relatives and friends may call on Sunday 4 to 7 p.m. at Holy Cross Armenian Apostolic Church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Holy Cross Armenian Apostolic Church.
