CBA leads early, beats Shaker

CBA 8, SHAKER 2>> CBA jumped out to a 1- 0 lead in the 3rd inning when Nick Melillo led off with a double and scored when Davis Payne followed with his own double. Melillo came up again in the 4th inning with two runners on and had a two run single as the Brothers took a 3- 0 lead. Shaker got two back in the bottom of the 4th when pitcher Jack Mahoney doubled to lead off the inning. Dino Ferrarese doubled to bring in Mahoney. Pinch runner Andrew Inglee stole home and the score remained 3-2 until the top of the 6th when CBA tacked on four runs. Davis Payne doubled to bring in two runs and CBA had a 5-2 advantage. CBA tacked on three more runs and Shaker couldn’t mount a comeback. SARATOGA 6, ALBANY 5>> Alex Henderson hit a walk off hit in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead Saratoga to a thrid walk off in eight days and move them to 7-1 on the season. Brain Hart went 2 for 2 with two walks and a run.

Albany had eight hits in the game, but had four errors which allowed Saratoga to stay in the game and get back into it. COLUMBIA 6, MOHONANSEN 5>> Nate Cotton had a double, two runs and two RBIs to lead Columbia to a 6- 5 win over Mohonansen. Brandon Ostiguy went seven strong innings, giving up one run and getting four strikeouts. NISKAYUNA8, TROY1>> Nick Insognia went seven innings giving up three hits and eight strikeouts and Tyler Senecal, Angelo Spataro and Liam Davidson each had a homerun to lead Niskayuna 8-1 over Troy. WATERFORD- HALFMOON 10, HADLEY LUZERNE 6>> Thomas Phelan went 3 for 4 with two runs, one RBI, one walk and threw 4 innings giving up four hits, two earned, walking three and striking out seven to lead Waterford-Halfmoon to a 10- 6 victory over Hadley Luzerne.

BURNTHILLS­11, BETHLEHEM 9>> Ty McHerron and Jake Stank had three goals a piece to lead Burnt Hills over Bethlehem 11-9. QUEENSBURY 18, AMSTERDAM1>> James Conway had seven goals to lead Queensbury to a big 18-1 win over Amsterdam.

MECHANICVI­LLE 4, TAMARAC3>> Alivia Wood got the win, getting six strikeouts and Savannah Bowie had a triple, double and two RBIs in Mechanicvi­lle’s 4-3 win over Tamarac BURNTHILLS­3, BETHLEHEM 1>> Bethlehem dropped the matchup to Burnt Hills 3-1. Bethlehem coach Nicole Wickham said the team struggled to get runs.

“Today was another tough loss for us,” Wickham said. “We played great defense. Offensivel­y we were unable to get the timely hits when we needed them and left too many base runners in scoring position.”

COLONIE 6, BALLSTON SPA 2>> Lexi Szesnat went 3 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI to lead Colonie to a 6-2 win over Ballston Spa.

TENNIS

GUILDERLAN­D 8, AVERILL PARK 1>> Guilderlan­d lost only one matchup with Eric Schuman losing to Jin Shang. Guilderlan­d went on to win 8-1. BALLSTON SPA 8, COLONIE 1>> Ballston Spa took the 8-1 win over Colonie. BETHLEHEM7, BURNTHILLS 2>> Burnt Hills won one sinlge and one double matchup, falling to Behtlehem.
