Catholic Central girls lacrosse notches big win

The Crusaders cruised to a big win in girls lacrosse Tuesday night behind Colleen McDonell's four goals and one assist. Read more about the contest plus softball, boys lacrosse and baseball scores.

TROY, N.Y. >> Colleen McDonell scored a team-high four goals while Kelly Stanton and Emma Field had two apiece for the Catholic Central girls lacrosse team in a non-league rout of Glens Falls.

Emily Carlow had seven saves for the Crusaders and Kasi Johnson recorded 11 for Glens Falls.

AVERILLPAR­K19, ALBANY9>> Kenzie Minkler (five goals, four assists) contribute­d to nine goals for the Warriors in a rout of Albany. Anita Reitano and Mia Tessitore recorded hat tricks while Laura Wing made a gamehigh 10 saves.

SHAKER 12, COLUMBIA 8 >>

Maeve Lennon led the way with seven goals for the Blue Bison while Katie Julien had four goals and Emily Polsinelli finished with 11 saves and eight goals allowed.

Ciara Mazzone scored three goals to lead the Blue Devils and teammate Molly Teoriero finished with two goals.

Softball

MAPLE HILL 9, COXSACKIEA­THENS0>> Alysa Houghtalin­g pitched a complete game two- hitter as the Wildcats won their third straight Patroon Conference contest. Houghtalin­g also went 2-for- 4 with four RBIs at the plate while teammate Kenzie Seymour was 3-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored for Maple Hill (3- 5 league, 5- 6 overall).

Boys lacrosse

SHAKER 22, COLUMBIA 4 >> Luke Julien dominated with seven goals and four assists and teammate Colin Sorady had four goals and two assists for the Blue Bi- son in a rout.

John Hawkins scored two of Columbia’s goals while Heny Klee and Ben Koolensky had the other two.

GUILDERLAN­D 8, SARATOGA SPRINGS 4 >> Guilderlan­d’s Sean Heller made four key saves in the second half to shut out the Blue Streaks and lead the Dutchmen to victory. Saratoga’s goals were scored by Adam Mesquita (2), Ethan Morrison, Griffin Taylor and Dylan Honis. Goalkeeper Griffin Ketchum made four saves in 24 minutes and Ryan Flemming made eight saves in the other 24 for the Blue Streaks.

Guilderlan­d got two goals apiece from Connor Quimby, Jack Dollard and Anthony Sericolo.

Baseball

CBA7, SOUTHGLENS­FALLS3 >> Peter Close doubled and Nick Melillo tripled for the Brothers in a non-league win over the Bulldogs (5-5 Foothills, 5-8 overall). Jon Silvernail went six strong innings to earn the win on the mound for CBA.

BURNT HILLS- BALLSTON LAKE 9, COLONIE 0 >> The Spartans earned twoset victories in all nine matches to earn a 9- 0 shut out in the team competitio­n.
