Saratoga tops Shen, Colonie in tri-meet

COLONIE, N.Y. >> The Saratoga boys varsity outdoor track squad remained undefeated with an 89- 82 win over Shenendeho­wa and a 101-73 victory over Colonie at Colonie High School Tuesday afternoon. The Blue Streaks captured both wins between downpours and rainbows over the South Colonie campus. Shenendeho­wa defeated Colonie, 90-85.

The 3200-meter relay squad of Ezra Ruggles, Robert Battle, Peter Moller and Nicholas Brady won the lead- off event in eight minutes, 10.1 seconds followed by Colonie at 8:23.1 and Shenendeho­wa at 8:29.1.

In the 110-meter hurdles, Colonie’s Jeremiah House won in 14.3 seconds followed across the finish line by Nic Michalowsk­i at 15.0, Colonie’s Xavier Washington at 15.5, Saratoga’s Charlie Liebers at 16.7 and Shen’s Soohynn Oh at 17.2.

The 100-meter dash was captured by Shenendeho­wa’s David Benson at 10.9 seconds followed across by his Plainsmen teammate Matthew McLaughlin at 11.0, Saratoga’s Alex Smith was third at 11.2 followed by Blue Streaks teammate Kirk Francis at 11.6.

Saratoga’s Declan Hines won the 1,600-meter race in 4:25.1 and teammate Geoffrey Howles was second in 4:32.2. Shenendeho­wa’s Hickey was third with a 4:34.8.

Colonie captured the 400-meter relay in 44.4 seconds on the speed of Xavier Washington, Michael Hermance, Jacob Garry and Jeremiah House.

Plainsmen harrier Benson was a double-winner Tuesday, winning the 400-meter dash in 49.4 seconds followed by Colonie’s Andrew Shaw at 52.3. Plainsmen runner Jaylin Sykes was fourth at 52.9.

Nic Michalowsk­i won the 400-meter hurdles in 60.1 seconds followed by Saratoga’s Charlie Liebers at 62.1, Noah Fanders at 62.7 and Shen’s Soohynn Oh at 63.4.

Saratoga’s Will Navin won the 800-meter race in 2:01.2 followed by Shen’s Evan LaFleche at 2:01.6, Alex Hislop at 2:02.2 and Saratoga’s Ryan Postlethwa­it at 2:03.5.

Benson went on to win the 200- meter dash in 22.6 seconds followed by Colonie’s Michael Hermanance at 23.2 followed by Shenendeho­wa’s Matthew McLaughlin at 23.2.

Saratoga sophomore Shea Weilbaker won the 3,200 in 9:44.2 followed across the finish by William Howe at at 9:50.9.

Colonie won t he 1,600-meter relay in 3:32.5 followed by Saratoga at 3.33.8 and Shenendeho­wa at 3.34.8. In the field events Colonie’s Kevin Ritz won the shotput with a throw of 46- feet 9- inches followed by Shenendeho­wa’s Noah Stachewicz at 43-feet 4-inches, Saratoga’s Elijah Taylor at 43-feet 1-inch, Blue Streak thrower Kevin Toote at 42-feet 7-inches and Shen’s Dylan Blowers at 41-feet 11-inches.

Saratoga’s Kirk Francis won the long jump with a leap of 20-feet 9-¾ inches followed by his teammate Izaias Smith at 20- feet 3-inches. Xavier Washington was third with a distance of 18-feet 5-inches.

Blue Streak thrower Kevin Toote won the discus with his throw of 114feet 4-inches followed by Colonie’s Michael Dilcher at 112- feet 11- inches. Shenendeho­wa’s Louis Donatelli was third at 110-feet 8-inches.

Shenendeho­wa’s Jonathan Ray won the high jump with his leap of 5-feet 9-inches followed by Blue Streak’s Kirk Francis and Khaleel Muldrow at 5-foot 6-inches. Shen’s Jack Normandin was fourth at 5-foot 3-inches.

Saratoga’s Izaias Smith won the triple jump with a three-step leap of 40- 4 ¾ inches. Colonie’s Destin Yee was second at 38-5 inches followed by Shen’s Colin Tower at 37- 9 and Teddy Baldyga at 37-5.

In the pole vault, Shenendeho­wa’s Casey Gribben reached 12-feet followed by Saratoga’s Adrien Hong at 10-feet 6-inches and Plainsmen vaulter Joe Melite at 10-feet 6-inches.
