Downtown farmers market moves outside

-

TROY, N.Y. >> The Troy Waterfront Farmers’ Market will kick off its outdoor season Saturday, with seven new vendors joining the roster of businesses offering fresh food and artisan wares.

The market will be located along River Street around Monument Square through October, at which time it will move back into the Troy Atrium for the winter season. The market moved off River Street last year and into Riverfront Park while the city upgraded the stormsewer system in the area around Monument Square.

“We are thrilled to be kicking off our outdoor season and especially returning to River Street,” said market manager Liz Hammond. “River Street is a really fun and unique location for the market, and it offers customers a great experience of Down-

town Troy while shopping our vendors.”

New vendors for the summer season include Crepe Me Up, Gallus Goat Farms, Lavenlair Farm, Oh Corn! Arepas and More, Sweet Ramas Soap, The Food Florist and Yummy Kitchen. They join more than 80 producer- only vendors offering a range of products, including fresh produce, meats, dairy, baked goods, prepared foods, artisan wares, flowers, plants and household items.

The market is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine, with free parking in the Uncle Sam, State Street and 5th Avenue parking garages. For more information, visit www.troymarket. org.
