THE GEORGI: On May 6 at 4p.m. Elizabeth Cockey will be in the Community Room of The Georgi on the Battenkill, Adam Lane in Shushan, for a book signing. HISTORY OF TROY ACTIVISM: The Troy Public Library is hosting a series of three History Talks on activism in Troy this spring. Each lecture will be followed by a writing and drawing session that will allow participan­ts to react to the topic. On May 6, the Rensselaer County Historical Society, 572nd Street, hosts a drawing session with Monica Bill-Hughes from 10a.m. to noon. I LOVE MY PARK DAY: Grafton Lakes and Cherry Plain State Parks will be hosting their annual I Love My Park Day events on Saturday, May 6. HONOR A DECEASED VETERAN: The Rensselaer County Honor a Deceased Veteran Program honor Edwards F. Dougherty on May 8at 0830in the Legislativ­e Chambers, Third Floor of the County Office Bldg. 1600Sevent­h Avenue, Troy. Edward served in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the USS Dixie and USS McCord, both of which patrolled and supported our Marines throughout the Pacific Theatre. VALLEY FALLS WOMEN’S CLUB: The Valley Falls and Vicinity Women’s Club’s annual luncheon will be held at Sammy Cohen’s Restaurant, Lower Main Street in Schaghtico­ke on Wednesday, May 10, at noon. The program will consist of a presentati­on “What Shall We Eat?” given by Ann Kelly Metzger, a graduate of Hoosic Valley High School and Cornell and an organic meat and vegetable farmer in Brunswick. She will be discussing modern food options and opportunit­ies, from the way food is grown and sold to the labels on it and the difference in cost and content.

WILLIAMS COLLEGE JAZZ CONCERT: Jazz at Williams presents performanc­es featuring talented student jazz musicians. A concert of Small Jazz Ensembles begins with a group led John Wheeler performing works in the jazz idiom.
