French twirls no-hitter for Troy

ALBANY, N.Y. >> Serafina French threw a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts for Troy’s varsity softball team in a 22- 0 Suburban Council shutout of Albany on Monday.

Maddy Rifenberic­k was 3-for-3 with a grand slam and Karley Duda and Jill Picarillo had four hits apiece for the Flying Horses. COHOES 6, LANSINGBUR­GH 1 >> Lily Sencer went 3-for-3 with four runs scored while Isabelle Dechiaro and Haleigh Burgess added three hits apiece to lead the Tigers (9-1, 11-2) to a key Colonial Council victory over Lansingbur­gh.

Dechiaro pitched a four-hitter to earn the win for Cohoes while Julia Thompson had six strikeouts in the circle for the hosts. COHOES 16, RAVENA 2 >> Marley Dame hit two singles, a double

and a triple for the Tiger in a Colonial Council win. Haleigh Burgess added a double and two singles and Isabelle Dechiaro picked up the win in the circle with 10 strikeouts and one walk. MECHANICVI­LLE 4, GREENWICH 3 >> The Raiders’ Alivia Wood outdueled the Witches’ Rachel Hall in a match-up of two top Wasaren League squads. Wood allowed three runs on six hits with four strikeouts and four walks while Madison Harrington doubled, singled and drove in three runs for Mechanicvi­lle.

Hall struck out eight and walked one while Gabby Wiss picked up three hits for Greenwich.

HOOSIC VALLEY 4, HOOSICK FALLS 0 >> Camille Coyne twirled a no hitter with 13 strikeouts and one walk for Valley (9- 4 league, 11- 4 overall) in a shutout of the Panthers (4-7, 5-8).

Taylor Champagne had two singles and Ashley Madigan contribute­d a double for the visitors in the win.

Abby Philpott had six strikeouts and four walks in the loss for Hoosick Falls.

BALLSTON SPA 9, MOHONASEN 1 >> Lauren Kersch threw a complete game three-hitter in a Suburban Council win for the Scotties. Jillian Nitchman,

Sarah Pritchard and Ana Gold each hit home runs in the second inning to fuel the Ballston Spa offense.

Emma Rafferty led off the seventh with a solo home run for Mohonasen. RENSSELAER 26-11, BERLIN 6-3>> Rensselaer swept Berlin in a doublehead­er.

Melissa Stager earned the win in the circle one game and had two hits for Rensselaer in the second.

Baseball

TROY 13, ALBANY 6 >> Mike Hughes picked up the win on the mound and David Judge went 3-for- 5 with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBIs for the Flying Horses in a Suburban Council victory.

Shawn Seabury, Nick Pastore and Zach Ziter each contribute­d two hits for Troy High.

COLONIE 5, COLUMBIA 2 >> Devan Kruzinski and Nathan Toms each contribute­d two hits and an RBI for the Raiders (8- 4 league, 11- 4 overall) in a Suburban Council victory over the Blue Devils (6-7, 7-9). Spencer Wall pitched two innings of scoreless relief for Colonie to pick up the win on the mound. NISKAYUNA 8, SARATOGA SPRINGS 3 >> Cole Hedden and Conor Graham had two hits apiece and Alec Ritzenthal­er allowed three

runs on three hits with five strikeouts for the Silver Warriors in a Suburban Council win.

Brad Hipsley had a twoRBI single that put the Blue Streaks up 3- 0 before the hosts scored eight unanswered runs.

Zach Vavasour took the loss on the mound for Saratoga Springs. SHENENDEHO­WA5, SHAKER 4 >> Shaker jumped out to an early 4- 0 but Shen scored two unearned runs in the fifth inning to win 5- 4. Shenendeho­wa was down 4-3 in the top of the fifth inning when Brendan Spulnick singled off of Duncan Satterlee, driving in two runs.

John Cady earned the win for Shenendeho­wa pitching five innings, surrenderi­ng four runs, five hits, and striking out five. Mitch Wright recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Shenendeho­wa. Satterlee was the hardluck loser after surrenderi­ng two earned runs, seven hits, and striking out three in seven innings.

Joe Palko led Shenendeho­wa Plainsmen Varsity with three hits in four at bats.

RAVENA 7, WATERVLIET 0 >> Matt Ferriero went 3-for- 4 with a homer and three RBIs as Ravena (8- 5, 8- 5) won its sixth straight. Jeremy Billetts allowed two earned runs in five innings to take the loss for the Cannoneers.

ALBANY ACADEMY 11, COHOES1>> Ben Seiler pitched six strong innings and Brett Young Homer homered for the Cadets (10-2 league, 11- 3 overall) in a Colonial Council win.

Derek Becker doubled for the Tigers.

HOOSIC VALLEY 10, HOOSICK FALLS 4 >> Blake Wiegert went 4-for- 4 with three RBIs and Brandon Haughney singled twice to lead the Valley (11-2, 14- 3) offense in a Wasaren League win.

Jon Collegian picked up the win on the mound. GREENWICH 4, MECHANICVI­LLE 0 >> Bailey Winch tossed a complete- game shutout for the Witches with nine stirkeouts and two hits allowed.

Carson Mosher went 1-for- 3 with an RBI and two runs scored to lead Greenwich (5- 6, 7-8) from the plate. WATERFORD-HALFMOON 5, STILLWATER­3>> Michael Talavera allowed three runs on six hits in 6 1/3 innings of work and Robert Walek got the final two outs to earn the save for the Fordians in a Wasaren League win.

Robbie Vavaro was the hard- luck loser for the Raiders after giving up two earned runs on four hits with nine strikeouts and two walks in seven innings of work.
