Bernie Williams at Center for Disability Services fundraiser: Four time World Series Champion Bernie Williams, who was a center fielder for the New York Yankees, and Latin Grammy nominated jazz musician, will be the a celebrity guest and will play jazz guitar at the 23nd annual An Aficionado Experience, a fundraiser for the Center for Disability Services, Thursday, June 8, at 6p.m, at the Pruyn House in Loudonvill­e.

Williams will sign autographs for VIP sponsors during a special reception, he and his band will perform for guests during the night, and he will have his photo taken with fans in a special photo area. Shires Marathon 2017: Bennington County hosted the first Shires Marathon in 2011to celebrate the 250th anniversar­y of both Bennington (South Shire) and Manchester (North Shire), which are roughly 25miles apart. Its course, which follows secondary roads, includes 8.5 unpaved, low traffic miles. The race, which will be on May 21, 2017, starts at Bennington College and ends 26.2miles later at Riley Rink, Manchester’s Olympic sized ice skating facility. Coaching course: “Principles, philosophy and organizati­on of high school athletes”, one of the courses required to coach in New York State high schools, will be held June 3to 4and June 10to 11from 7a.m. to 5 p.m. at Saratoga Central Catholic High School in Saratoga Springs. Field Hockey: Capitallan­d Lacrosse is running a spring girls’ field hockey program for all beginner, novice and advanced skill level players in grades 3-12at Collins Park in Clifton Park.
