WATERFORD MEMORIAL DAY PARADE: The Annual Waterford Memorial Parade will be held on Wednesday, May 24, at 7p.m. Kenneth Smith, a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Air Force, will lead the parade as the 2017Grand Marshall. The Parade will line up at 5:45p.m .from Grace Street proceed to Saratoga Avenue and end at Soldiers and Sailors Park on Broad Street. Step off will be at 7 p.m. sharp. A wreath laying ceremony will be held in the park following the parade to honor our veterans both past and present.

WOMEN’S CLUB OF ALBANY: You’ve heard about Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony, and the Women’s Suffrage Movement, but did you know that there was a strong anti-suffrage movement, and some of the loudest voices were women fighting against the right to vote? On Wedneday, May 24, at 7p.m., the Woman’s Club of Albany (WCA) will host Deborah Emmons-Andarawis, curator at Historic Cherry Hill, for a special presentati­on on the topic. The anti-suffragett­es even had their own soundtrack, and songs were written for both sides of the issue. As a special part of the evening’s fare, some of them will be performed by Tony Opalka and Mary Le Fleur. The event is free and open to the public. The Club is located at 725Madison Avenue, Albany.
