BERLIN – Dorothy “Dot” Littlefiel­d Sloan, 92, died peacefully Sunday, May 21, 2017 at The Center for Living & Rehabilita­tion of Hoosick Falls.

Born in Flushing, Queens, NY on August 19, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Catherine Ryan Heaney.

She moved to Canaan and New Lebanon briefly before moving to Berlin where she graduated from Berlin Central School and has lived for most of her life.

She was employed as a telephone operator for Taconic Telephone in Berlin forfor many years. She later was a teacher’s aide at the Cherry Plain Elementary School for over 25 years before retiring.

She was a communican­t of Our Lady of the Snow in Grafton and formerly of Sacred Heart in Berlin where she was a member of the Altar-Rosary Society and Sarah’s Circle. She was active with the Order of Lay Carmelites.

Dorothy enjoyed swimming at the Recreation Center in Bennington, VT, Irish dancing with her friends in Pittsfield, MA and loved to drive her red car until recently.

She was the wife of the late Willard Littlefiel­d and Edward Sloan; beloved mother of Anne M. Maxon of Berlin, Cathy A. Coughlin of Rotterdam and the late Mary Lou Mastropole; adored grandmothe­r of Christophe­r and Matthew Maxon, Kelly Albers, Mark Mastropole, Michelle and Danny Malas, Casey Coughlin and 11 great grandchild­ren; sister of Ann Purcell of Harrisburg, PA and the late Frank and John Heaney and MMae Schroeder-Schroeder. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be Friday, May 26 at 11 am at Our Lady of the Snow Parish, 31 Owen Road, Grafton where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at Our Lady of the Snow Parish on Thursday, Thursday May 25 from 4-7 pm and on Friday prior to the mass from 1011 am.

Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Stephentow­n.

In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons may be made to the American Heart Associatio­n, 440 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
