Catholic Central girls lax into final

GREENWICH, N.Y. >> Colleen McDonnell and Grace Field scored a hat tricks for Catholic Central’s varsity girls lacrosse taeam in a 12-10 victory over Greenwich in a Section II Class C playoff game Tuesday.

The Crusaders advance to Wednesday’s final scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday at Mohonasen.

Kelly Stanton and Lindsay Honsinger added two goals, two assists apiece for Catholic High while Claudia Fountain added two goals.

Greenwich’s Coly Youngt scored five goals and provided one assist to lead all scorers. Crusaders goalkeeper Emily Carlow made eight saves and the Witches’ Olivia Barnes made seven.

ALBANY ACADEMY 8, AVERILL PARK 6 >> Albany Academy beat Averill Park in a girls lacrosse semifinal. No stats from the contest were provided.

BURNT HILLS- BALLSTON LAKE9, SCOTIA-GLENVILLE4 >> Christina Pedone scored four goals and teammate Lauren Hopsicker had a hat trick and three assists for the Spartans in a Class B lacrosse semifinal win. Taylor Safford and Caroline Muller added a goal and an assist apiece.

NISKAYUNA 17, COLUMBIA 1 >> The Silver Warriors’ Erin Doyle and Sydney McPartlon both had four-goal outputs in a Class B semifinal

rout of Columbia. Colleen Kennedy scored off an assist from Ashley Murtagh for the Blue Devils in defeat.

SCHUYLERVI­LLE 22, JOHNSTOWN 4 >> Amy Moreau had nine goals and three assists in a dominant performanc­e by the Black Horses in the Section II Class D semifinals. Aliston Burnham added five goals and Rachael VanKueren finished with a hat trick for Schuylervi­lle.

Allie Lajeunesse allowed nine hits in nine innings and struck out four to earn the win in the circle for Shaker. Pitcher Maddie Burns had eight strikeouts for Columbia in the loss. COLUMBIA 9, QUEENSBURY 8 >> Shane Wyman scored four goals and added an assists while John Hawkins had two goals, two assists for the Blue Devils in a Section II Class B quarterfin­al win over the Spartans.

Colin Cunningham recorded a hat trick for Queensbury. BETHLEHEM 12, SARATOGA SPRINGS 9 >> Bethlehem’s boys lacrosse team jumped out to a big first-half lead, then held on to beat host Saratoga Springs 12-9 Tuesday afternoon.

The Blue Streaks twice

cut the lead to three in the fourth quarter after goals by senior captain Dylan Honis and Adam Mesquita. However, Ethan Sheraw scored with less than three minutes left in regulation to restore a fourgoal lead and essentiall­y clinch the contest for the hosts.

Honis and Mesquita led Saratoga Springs in scoring with four goals and an assist apiece. Matt Shamburger contribute­d a goal and three assists for the Blue Streaks and goalkeeper Ryan Fleming made eight saves.

Devon Halliday scored five goals and provided one assist for the Eagles in the win, while Zach Dunez scored a hat trick. Tyler Hull made eight key saves for Bethlehem.
