GREENBUSH HISTORICAL SOCIETY: The Greenbush Historical Society welcomes Bobbie Reno, East Greenbush Town Historian, who will be discussing Edmonia Lewis at the Sunday, June 4meeting. Edmonia was born in 1844 to a Chippewa mother and an African American father. She lived in East Greenbush and was raised by the Chippewa when she was orphaned at the age of five. Race and gender presented many obstacles, but Edmonia overcame them to become the first profession­al African American sculptor. She spent much of her profession­al career in Rome, Italy and was internatio­nally renowned. The meeting starts at 2p.m. at the East Greenbush Library.
