Saratogian to move into new office

-

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. » The Saratogian will have a new home this summer. The city’s daily newspaper and The Record’s sister newspaper will move from its building at 20 Lake Ave. to 7 Wells St. Publisher Robert O’Leary

said the company is eyeing the first week of August to make the change.

“While leaving the Saratogian building is sad, we are very excited about our new home,” O’Leary said. “Remaining in the heart of Saratoga is vital to our mission, so we were very fortunate to find this building, which perfectly meets our space and location needs. This new address will help us continue to bring the news of this community to you every day.”

The new location reflects the latest in a series of moves to streamline the newspaper’s operations. The Lake Avenue building, which has been home to The Saratogian for more than 80 years, has 14,000 square feet of space, compared with 3,700 square feet at the Wells Street property. With a staff of fewer than two dozen, along with printing and paginating operations being handled in separate locations, the Wells Street building is a better fit for the current needs of the newspaper, O’Leary said. Digital First Media, the parent company of The Saratogian and The Record, sold the building in 2012 to Saratoga Prime Properties but has been leasing the facility since that time. The company also sold The Record’s former home on Broadway in Troy in 2015, moving into an office on River Street.
