Incomplete labels lead to supermarket recalls

Price Chopper, Market 32 and Hannaford supermarkets issued voluntary recalls Wednesday and Thursday for food items that had incomplete ingredient lists on their labels.

Price Chopper and Market 32 recalled their toasted coconut panko-breaded, hand-dredged chicken cutlets, sold in both the custom cut and packaged meat cases in their stores. Company officials said in a news release the seasoning used to coat the chicken contained milk, a known allergen, but it was not listed on the ingredient label. The company said their is no health risk to people who do not have a milk allergy.

Customers can return the cutlets to their local Price Chopper or Market 32 for a full refund. Many customers who purchased the cutlets have already been contacted through the company’s SoundBite notification program, which uses purchase data and consumer phone numbers on file in connection with the company’s AdvantEdge loyalty card to alert them that they may have purchased the cutlets.

For more information, visit www.pricechopper.com or call 1-800-666-7667.

Meanwhile, Hannaford announced recalls Thursday for three items that may also contain milk, though it is not mentioned as an ingredient on the product label. Shoppers who purchased Hannaford’s 5.1-ounce ham salad club or tuna salad club sandwiches or its 10-ounce seafood stuffing can be returned for a full refund.

Company officials said no illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall.
