Coaching course: Theories and techniques of coaching, one of the courses required to coach in New York State high schools, will be held 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 22-23 at Vent Fitness Center in Guilderland. Participants must attend all class sessions in order to complete the course. Registration fee is $175 prior to July 9, and $225 afterwards. The Hockey Hut in Clifton Park will be running five summer camps beginning on June 26. Fee for half-days (7:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) is $195; fee for full days (7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m.) is $295. The programs include Mite Mania, a stick-handling camp, a shooting camp, Bantam Transition and Battle Games. The camp is open to girls ages 7-16 and will run from June 26-30. Emphasis will be on skill development and improvement, effort and teamwork. Camp enrollment is limited to the first 50 registrants. Cost of the camp is $175 per person prior to May 1 and $200 after that date. Each participant will receive a camp T-shirt. Lunch options are available. June 12: Cohoes Community Center 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Bernie Williams at Center for Disability Services fundraiser: Four time World Series Champion Bernie Williams, who was a center fielder for the New York Yankees, and Latin Grammy nominated jazz musician, will be the a celebrity guest and will play jazz guitar at the 23nd annual An Aficionado Experience, a fundraiser for the Center for Disability Services, Thursday, June 8, at 6 p.m, at the Pruyn House in Loudonville. Williams will sign autographs for VIP sponsors during a special reception, he and his band will perform for guests during the night, and he will have his photo taken with fans in a special photo area. Field Hockey: Capitalland Lacrosse is running a spring girls’ field hockey program for all
beginner, novice and advanced skill level players in grades 3-12 at Collins Park in Clifton Park. Participants can choose Tuesday night or Sunday afternoon programs, which will start on April 30 and end on June 11. You don not have to be a Clifton Park resident to join. Girls elite lacrosse camp: Albany Elite Girls Lacrosse will be holding a lacrosse camp for girls in grades 3-7 from Monday, June 26 to Thursday, June 29 at Afrim’s on Route 7 in Latham. The sessions will run from 9 a.m. to noon all four days. Girls of all skill levels are invited to attend. The camp will feature stick skills, offense, defense and game situations. The cost is $175. camp and showcase: Sage Colleges has been selected to host the Junior Day Softball Prospect Camp and Showcase on Wednesday, June 21. The event is open to high school players who graduate in 2018, 2019 or 2020. The one-day event will feature coaches from numerous colleges. Three main sessions are offered — pitching/ catching, infield/outfield and hitting, Players can participate in as many sessions as they want.
