PITTSTOWN HISTORICAL SOCIETY: A program in celebratio­n of the 100th anniversar­y of women winning the right to vote in New York State takes place on June 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the Pittstown Town Hall in Tomhannock. Elizabeth Cady Stanton, portrayed by Valley Falls Historian Maren Stein, will talk about her life and her work with Susan B. Anthony, who grew up in nearby Washington County. Pittstown Town Historian Janet Weber will talk about the women and activities of the Political Equality Club of Valley Falls, which is now the Woman’s Club of Valley Falls and Vicinity. OCTAGON BARN STAR PARTY: Join miSci for an astronomy lesson and dark sky observing at the Octagon Barn in Delanson. This month’s program includes a 1 hour talk by Josh Hauck and Valerie Rapson on “Dudley Observator­y: Then and Now,” followed by night sky observing if the weather is clear. Amateur astronomer­s and families are invited to bring binoculars or telescopes. Telescopes will also be set up for public use. SAND LAKE KIWANIS SUMMERFEST: From June 16 through June 18 the Kiwanis Club of Sand Lake proudly presents Summerfest to thank the Community for supporting their projects. Summerfest is the largest fund raiser for the Kiwanis Club of Sand Lake to support the community projects conducted during the year. Many local vendors, multiple rides and Midway attraction­s and delicious food are available throughout the event. SCHODACK ISLAND STATE PARK: Schodack Island State Park comes alive with music on Fridays evenings with open mic nights. The entertainm­ent will begin at 5 p.m. and continue into the evening until 8 pm, depending on the crowd. Schodack Landing Fire Company will be selling their great food at Friday Open Mic Nights. The third Friday of each month the Friends of Schodack Island will be hosting a Car Show. There is no fee to enter the park, to be a performer or to enjoy the entertainm­ent. ‘SHACK’ SCREENING & STUDY GROUP: The movie “The Shack” will be shown on Friday, June 16, at West Central Rensselaer County Lutheran Parish beginning at 6:30 p.m. Following the movie there will be an opportunit­y to register for a Study Group based on the movie. The study group will run for six weeks. The movie is free, as are the popcorn and drinks. 50 CENT BASKET SOCIAL: The Poestenkil­l Christian Church will be hosting a .50 Cent Basket Social at the Sullivan Jones Post (VFW Post), 25 Veterans St., Poestenkil­l, on Saturday, June 17.
