FREE CONCERT: Wingate Residences at Melbourne Place will welcome L’Amore della Musica for a musical performance on Saturday, June 17 at 2 p.m. as part of the community’s summer concert series. GRANT COTTAGE: “The Saratoga, Mount McGregor and Lake George Railroad: A Brief History,” 1 p.m. What did Mark Twain, Benjamin Harrison and Oscar Wilde have in common? They all rode the Saratoga, Mount McGregor and Lake George Railroad. Schenectady native Gino DiCarlo has been a fan of railroads since he was born. He is the creator of Gino’s Rail-Museum and Rail-Blog websites and the author of Trolleys of the Capital District and the soon-to- be-released, The Brief History of the Saratoga, Mount McGregor and Lake George Railroad. Gino will share photos and stories of the narrow-gauge railroad that brought the rich and famous, including General Grant, to the mountain-top above Saratoga Springs. SAND LAKE KIWANIS SUMMERFEST: From June 16 through June 18 the Kiwanis Club of Sand Lake proudly presents Summerfest to thank the Community for supporting their projects. Summerfest is the largest fund raiser for the Kiwanis Club of Sand Lake to support the community projects conducted during the year. Many local vendors, multiple rides and Midway attractions and delicious food are available throughout the event. June 17 events include a tennis tournament at nearby Averill Park High School starting at 8 a.m., a Black Hawk helicopter touchdown at 2 p.m., liver performances by The Protones and The Audiostars, and fireworks at 9:40 p.m. Gates open at 1 p.m. More information can be found at http://summerfestnewyork.com/.
