SCHODACK ISLAND STATE PARK: Schodack Island State Park comes alive with music on Fridays evenings with open mic nights. ‘SHACK’ SCREENING & STUDY GROUP: The movie “The Shack” will be shown on Friday, June 16, at West Central Rensselaer County Lutheran Parish beginning at 6:30 p.m. Following the movie there will be an opportunit­y to register for a Study Group based on the movie. USS SLATER: The third Saturday in June is recognized and celebrated nationwide as Destroyer Escort Day in honor of the Destroyer Escort sailors killed in World War II, Korea, Vietnam and the Cold War years and the ten Destroyer Escort ships lost in action. There will be a ceremony to honor and remember Destroyer Escorts and their Sailors on Saturday, June 17, beginning at 9 a.m. at USS SLATER, a National Historic Landmark and the last DE afloat in America. GRANT COTTAGE: “Secret Agents in Hoop Skirts: Women Spies of the Civil War,” 1 p.m. Hundreds of women served as spies during the Civil War, just as they had in earlier conflicts like the American Revolution.
