NATIONAL MUSEUM OF DANCE CLASSES:

The National Museum of Dance’s School of the Arts is offering evening summer dance classes for beginner to advanced level dancers three years of age and up, including adults. Styles of dance offered include modern dance, ballet, pointe, belly dancing, Zumba, Irish Step, creative movement, pre-ballet and a new country line dancing class with Kevin Richards. First time dancers are encouraged to sign up and/or stop in to observe a class. The summer session begins on June 27 and runs through August 19. The School of the Arts is situated behind the National Museum of Dance in the Swyer Dance Studio, at 99 South Broadway, Saratoga Springs. SARATOGA SPRINGS WALKING TOURS: The Saratoga Springs Preservati­on Foundation is delighted to present their summer of historic walking tours. Join the Foundation for the first of twelve exciting walking tours of historic Saratoga Springs, which will be offered each Sunday from June 18 through September 3. All Sunday morning tours start at 10:30 a.m. and last approximat­ely 90 minutes. The cost per tour is $5 for SSPF members and $8 for non-members. Tours require walking & standing and cover varied terrain. Buy a ticket for four tours and receive the fifth tour free. Reservatio­ns are encouraged, but not necessary. FARM-TO-TABLE DINNER THEATER: For the sixth season in a row, two Salem businesses, Gardenwork­s Farm, located at 1055 County Route 30, and Fort Salem Theater, 11 East Broadway, will be collaborat­ing on Farm-to-Table Dinner Theater and Cabarets, a package that offers special dinners and musical and theater production­s at discounted prices. Each evening begins with a cheese tray appetizer in the Gardenwork­s gallery at 5:30 p.m. Wine is available for purchase. Dinner is served at 6 p.m., including salad and artisan bread, a main course, and dessert. A discounted season ticket is available for all four dinner theater packages. Space is limited. SAND LAKE KIWANIS SUMMERFEST: From June 16 through June 18 the Kiwanis Club of Sand Lake proudly presents Summerfest to thank the Community for supporting their projects. Summerfest is the largest fund raiser for the Kiwanis Club of Sand Lake to support the community projects conducted during the year. Many local vendors, multiple rides and Midway attraction­s and delicious food are available throughout the event. Live and free music is also being performed for all Summerfest attendees. CABARET TRAINS: Berkshire Scenic Railway’s newly restored Hoosac Valley Line which runs between Adams & North Adams, announces the return of Saturday Night Cabaret Trains on select Saturday nights this summer. The Berkshires’ beloved musical duo of Samantha Talora & Ron Ramsay are back for this sophomore season of Cabaret Trains to entertain on the rails during the one-hour leisurely excursion on Saturdays, July 15 & 29, August 12 & 26; September 9 & 23. Berkshire Scenic Railway’s Hoosac Valley Service departs from the platform at 98 Crowley Ave. in North Adams and travels to Adams and back again in approximat­ely 75 minutes. WARTIME STORIES WANTED: Stories and images about life during World War I (1917-1919) and the Vietnam Era (19641975) and honoring those who participat­ed in these conflicts are being solicited from the public to become part of an exhibition, “Wartime Stories: The World War I and Vietnam Experience” at the Rensselaer County Historical Society, 57 Second Street, Troy. The temporary exhibition will be on view in the Robison Family Meeting Room at the Historical Society from September 11 to December 16. “Wartime Stories” will consist of biographic­al panels that include a short write-up about a person or group, and any photograph­s or images that can be provided by the public. INFINITE PAPER: Master Papermaker Ken Polinskie will exhibit a selection of artworks that demonstrat­e his exuberant use of paper as a medium for over 30 years at 508 Warren Street, Hudson, from June 24 through August 6. The pop-up exhibit will include vibrantly pigmented paintings made of pressed paper pulp; ink and gouache drawings on ‘living’ and artist-made paper; three dimensiona­l objects, prints and artist’s books. BASEBALL HALL OF FAME: The 2017 Inductees Exhibit is open at the Hall of Fame and will remain on display through May of 2018, when a new class of inductees is celebrated in Cooperstow­n. The exhibit, featuring one display each for Jeff Bagwell, Tim Raines, Iván Rodríguez, John Schuerholz and Bud Selig, is located on the first floor of the Museum as visitors approach the Plaque Gallery. Visitors will also be able to visualize the Class of 2017’s achievemen­ts via a highlight video display as part of this year’s exhibit. ROCKIN ON THE RIVER: The Downtown Troy Business Improvemen­t District invites you to downtown Troy on Wednesday nights this summer for the annual Rockin’ on the River concert series in Riverfront Park. The series will begin on Wednesday, June 7, and run through August 9 with 10 weeks of free familyfrie­ndly programmin­g encouragin­g music fans to shop, dine and explore downtown Troy on Wednesday nights during the summer. The concerts will take place between 5 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. in Riverfront Park, sandwiched between historic downtown Troy and the beautiful Hudson River. LANDSCAPE PAINTING WORKSHOP: In one lesson, create an atmospheri­c lake scene using oil paints on an 11 x 14 canvas. Instructor Karen Woodin will demonstrat­e how to apply, blend, and smooth your oil paints on a prepared canvas and teach techniques for creating an impression­istic style of mist, water and vegetation. 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Thacher Nature Center. PUPPY SCHOOL: Have you recently gotten a puppy and want to help it become an even better family companion? Cornell Cooperativ­e Extension’s Puppy school will be offered Tuesdays, June 20 -July 11 (except July 4) from 6 p.m. - 6:45 p.m. at the Albany County CCE Office, located at 24 Martin Road, Voorheesvi­lle. The class will focus on teaching your puppy basic manners, behavior modificati­on, and socializat­ion, while using positive reinforcem­ent. TROY FLEA CALL FOR VENDORS: Troy Flea returns to Riverfront Park for its third year on Sunday, June 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The funky market runs every second and fourth Sunday through September, adding to the city’s weekend offerings. So far about 30 vendors are scheduled to sell their wares at the debut flea. The cost per booth space is $50 for an individual Sunday, with price reductions offered to those who commit to more than four Sundays. These fees help pay for group advertisin­g and promotiona­l materials for the market. The flea will have open enrollment throughout the season until the space is filled. Mark your calendars for the fourth annual MakeA-Wish Northeast New York Walk for Wishes on August 12. The walk is at Joe Bruno Stadium in Troy, and features both a one mile and 5k option that are handicap-accessible. Registrati­on will be held from 8 a.m. until the 9:45 a.m. start. The event features an inspiring opening ceremony with Wish Kids and families, with fun, food and games following the walk.
