ARTISTS’ RECEPTION: Brothers Henry and Daniel Austin-Avon exhibit their artwork in their inaugural joint show, on display now at Rock Hill Bakehouse Café at 19 Exchange Street in downtown Glens Falls. SCHODACK ISLAND STATE PARK: Schodack Island State Park comes alive with music on Fridays evenings with open mic nights. On Sunday, June 25, at 3 p.m., La Fédération Franco Américaine du NY will honor the Québec holiday SaintJean- Baptiste at the annual Mass in French, led by Fr. Jeffrey L’Arche, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 119 Broad Street, Waterford. The liturgy and hymns will be in French; the homily, in French and English. The tradition of honoring St. Jean in late June came to North America with the French colonists, who first celebrated on the banks of the St. Lawrence River on June 23, 1636, with a bonfire and cannon shots. This free event is open to all; those attending Mass are invited to a reception immediately afterwards in the parish hall. Several disguised themselves as men and joined in the battles of the war. PLAYS IN PROGRESS: Plays in Progress and Hudson Hall present “Taking a Stand,” an afternoon of staged readings of short pieces written and produced by the playwrights, actors, and directors of Plays in Progress. CONCERT ON THE GREEN: The Poestenkill Historical Society’s annual Concerton-the- Green will be held on Tuesday, June 27 at 7 p.m. on the Town Hall lawn. “Winchester and Young” will be playing classic rock in harmony. Come and enjoy the warm blended harmonies and sing along to the songs that you know and love. All of our programs are free and the public is welcome. Please bring your own lawn chair or blanket.
