Baseball

AA Champion: Niskayuna A Champion: Mohonasen B Champion: Albany Academy C Champion: Hoosic Valley D Champion: Fort Ann The Record’s City Player of the Year: Jon Colligan, Hoosic Valley

Notable: Colligan was a senior on a Hoosick Valley team that made the New York State tournament the last four years. He pitched in the Section II final, and won, and allowed zero earned runs in the state tournament game -- still a losing effort.

Softball AA Champion: Shaker

A Champion: Averill Park B Champion: Cohoes C Champion: Greenville D Champion: Fort Ann The Record’s City Player of the Year: Isabelle DeChiaro, Cohoes

Notable: DeChiaro was the best player on a Cohoes team that was playing with just 10 athletes, but still made it all the way to the New York State semifinals. She was the pitcher, she was the offense. She was, as her coach said, the LeBron James of the roster.

Boys lacrosse A Champion: Shaker B Champion: Niskayuna

C Champion: Glens Falls D Champion: Greenwich The Record’s City Player

of the Year: Jack Cheney, Shaker

Notable: Cheney was the leading goal scorer on a Shaker team that won the Section II title over Shenendehowa. He had a goal in every game but one, totalling 61 and 90 points overall for the Blue Bison. Girls lacrosse A Champion: Guilderland B Champion: Niskayuna C Champion: Burnt Hills D Champion: Schuylerville The Record’s City Player of the Year: Colleen McDonnell, Catholic Central Notable: McDonnell had 30 more points than any other player on the CCHS team, playing in

just their second season. The team finished 10-4 on the year, and McDonnell had 48 goals as a part of that campaign. Boys track and field Group 1: Saratoga Group 2: Queensbury Group 3: Albany Academy Group 4: Canajoharie Group 5: Maple Hill

The Record’s City Player

of the Year: Liam Giombetti, La Salle

Notable: Giombetti made it to the New York State meet in the high jump for the Cadets. He posted a career-high of 6-feet, 2-inches, and was also the Valedictorian for the senior class. Not a bad way for Giombetti to end a high school career before he goes to Georgetown.

Girls track and field Group 1: Shenendehowa Group 2: Burnt Hills Group 3: Taconic Hills Group 4: Greenwich Group 5: Maple Hill The Record’s City Player

of the Year: Zhane Smith, Cohoes

Notable: Smith won the New York State 400-meter dash with a time of 56.2 seconds.

Boys tennis: AA Champion: Saratoga A Champion: Burnt Hills B Champion: La Salle C/D Champion: Chatham The Record’s City Player of the Year: Aaron Feng, La Salle

Notable: Feng finished the season at 9-3, winning 17-of-26 sets that he played for the Cadets.
