Since he had taken over as principal at La Salle in July 2015, Fallon said disciplinary rates had dropped 50 percent, and the 2016 open house had one of the highest-ever participation rates.

Fallon also made it a requirement for seniors to complete a two-week internship before graduating.

In June, La Salle Institute named Raczkowski as the permanent principal to succeed Fallon.

Raczkowski has served the La Salle Institute school community for 17 years in several capacities, most notably as Assistant Principal and Senior Army Instructor for the JROTC program. Raczkowski is a native of Troy and alumnus of La Salle and West Point, which was followed by decorated service in the Army.

Raczkowski holds a Master’s of Science degree in Education from National Louis University. He is a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College, the Army Air Defense Basic and Advanced courses, and the Nike Hercules Nuclear Missile Systems Course.

He is also a graduate of the U.S. Army JROTC School of Cadet Command Instructor Certification Course and Advanced Course.

Prior to becoming a Senior Army Instructor at La Salle Institute in 1999, Lieutenant Colonel Raczkowski served as the Director of Plans, Operations, and Security at the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York.

School officials said his Master’s degree in Education and Curriculum Development, lifelong career in military and academic leadership, dedication to the students, and respect for the institute’s values will aid him as he transitions into his role as principal.

“On behalf of the La Salle Institute Board of Trustees and the entire La Salle community, I would like to welcome LTC Raczkowski into his new leadership role at the institution that he has already served so well for many years,” said Thomas Marcelle, chairman of the La Salle Institute Board of Trustees. “We all look forward to working with him to celebrate the continuing success of our cadets and our community.”

Even though Raczkowski has only been serving in his new full-time leadership role for less than a full month, he has already been findings ways to continue to improve the school.

He recently reorganized some internal roles within the school, so that he could put together a new leadership team made up of current faculty and staff members.

His new leadership team is now made up of Matthew Michaud: Associate Principal for Academics and Student Affairs, Todd Crandall: Associate Principal for Curriculum Management, College Acceptance, Counseling, and Career Studies and Orientation, Steve Sgambelluri: Middle School Principal. Sgambelluri will also be the Director of Emergency Management and Director of Student Retention. Shane Hendry: Director of Admission — Hendry will also take over as Director of the International Program — and Andrew Santandera: Director of Athletics. Santandera will also be the Supervisor of the Physical Education Department.

Raczkowski and his wife Randee currently live in North Greenbush, New York. Their daughter Khyshan along with her husband David and two sons, Luc and Rhys live in Atlanta, Georgia. Their daughter Palar lives in Austin, Texas.
