1 Who are you?

My name is Rebecca Krohn. I’m a principal dancer with the New York City Ballet. 2 What are you most looking forward to performing at SPAC this year? I am actually really looking forward to every ballet I’m dancing this summer. I’m starting with Stravinsky Violin Concerto, which is one of my absolute favorite Balanchine ballets.

Peter Martins’ Thou Swell is up next and it’s always an unbelievably fun ballet to dance. We wear gorgeous gowns and dance to great music. It feels like a party on stage. Jerome Robbins’ Dances at a Gathering starts the second week. It was always a dream of mine to be in this ballet and I cherish every moment of it on stage. Last but not least is a new piece by Justin Peck called The Decalogue. It’s a special experience to have a ballet made on you and working with Justin is always so energizing and inspiring.

3 Where do you like to go in your free time when you’re in Saratoga?

There is so much natural beauty in Saratoga so it’s nice to take advantage of it and spend some time taking it all in. I’ve spent many sunny days out on Lake George and also just grilling out in the yard with my friends.

4 When did you first perform at SPAC?

I first performed at SPAC 18 years ago. I remember it being so exciting to perform outside in the elements. It feels like summer camp for professional dancers.

5 Why do you enjoy performing at SPAC?

One reason I love performing at SPAC is because of NYCB’s history of coming here. The company has had a home away from home here for over 50 years. The local community has worked so hard to make sure that we return every year and that is so special for us.
