CHARLIE BROWN CHIRSTMAS IN JULY: “A Charlie Brown Christmas” will be presented at Lansingburgh’s Trinity Episcopal Church Hall, 485 Fourth Avenue, Troy, on July 23, at the 9:30 a.m. Mass. On stage, parish members, like in the days of radio drama, will read their parts. Visuals and sets will be used to help create the atmosphere of the annual TV Christmas week presentation. All are welcome to the 9:30 a.m. service, including the 9:40 a.m. play that will serve as Sunday’s teaching message instead of a sermon.

GRANT REMEMBRANCE DAY: One hundred and thirtytwo years ago, at age 63, U.S. Grant finally bowed to the only enemy who could defeat him – cancer. It’s a Grant Cottage tradition to mark this somber occasion by recreating the Grant family circle to speak about Grant the husband, father and grandfather. Reenactors portraying Grant’s family and closest friends will gather on the Cottage porch and bid the man they loved and respected a final, very personal farewell. Speakers will be Ben Kemp (in the character of U.S.G.’s youngest son, Jesse Grant) and Steve Trimm (in the character of Grant physician Dr. John Hancock Douglas). The program will include music and, while acknowledging grief, will be a true celebration of Grant’s truly extraordinary life. 1 p.m., 1000 Mt. McGregor Road, Wilton. Fine art photographer Craig Murphy will return to Grant Cottage from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to create tintypes for purchase using the same equipment and wet plate process used in the 1860’s.
