STANDOFF ENDS WITHOUT ARREST
“Search will continue” for man believed to be inside Sixth Avenue Troy home
TROY, N.Y.» A standoff situation involving police on Sixth Avenue in Troy ended suddenly on Sunday with no arrest made.
The Troy Police Department was involved in the situation Sunday on Sixth Avenue between 101st and 102nd street. Neighbors observing what was then believed to be a standoff described it as a hostage situation involving a gun that began between 11:30 a.m. and noon, but no details were given by police.
Officers surrounded the building and activated the Troy Police Emergency Response Team (SWAT) to assist in the situation, Captain Dan DeWolf of the Troy Police Department said in an email. Colonie SWAT also assisted, along with NYS Parole and other agencies.
Police stationed outside the home could be heard asking the man, who they referred to as Rudolph Bradley, to come out the front
door peacefully and his safety would be guaranteed. They also referred to the house as number 76.
However, the situation ended with no arrest made, a later update from Sgt. Mark Maloy of the Troy Police Department stated between 4 and 4:30 p.m.
DeWolf later stated that the “search for the man they believed was inside will continue.”
“It’s unfortunate that the person being sought was not inside, but thankfully no one was hurt,” he continued.
