Town gets grant for new bathrooms in park
NORTH GREENBUSH, N.Y. » The town has received a $50,000 grant to pay for improvements to the Williams Road Town Park.
Town Supervisor Lou Desso said Wednesday in a news release that the funding through the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York’s State and Municipal Facilities Program will be used to build muchneeded, handicap-accessible restrooms and a small shelter in the park, which hosts the town’s farmers market, the Twin Town Baseball youth sports program and many community events. Desso said Twin Town Baseball will assist the town in construction and maintenance of the new facility.
“This project is a terrific example of state and local government and a nonprofit successfully partnering together to achieve a positive outcome,” Desso said in the release. “There are great things happening in North Greenbush, and this new enhancement to our park is just one of many positive steps our community is taking.”
Desso credited state Sen. Kathleen Marchione, R-Halfmoon, forher hard work and continued advocacy for the town to secure the funding.
“Meeting the needs of the local communities I serve and represent is always a top priority for me as senator,” Marchione said in the release. “Positive projects such as this are important to the community and helping improve the quality of life for area residents.”
“North Greenbush is very proud and fortunate to have Sen. Marchione in our corner because she continually listens to, and delivers for, our community,” Desso added.
