KINDNESS ROCK PROJECT: When Mrs. Nadine Scott, retired elementary teacher from Hoosick Falls Central School, was vacationin­g on Cape Code she found the Kindness Rocks Project, which she discovered is world wide. Now Mrs. Scott is bringing the project to Hoosick Falls. Come to the Cheney Library on August 22 at 3p.m. and August 23at 4 p.m to decorate rocks to place in the new Kindness Rocks garden. The rocks have already been painted with a base coat; all you’ll need to do is paint on a picture or a favorite saying with felt tip colored markers. Then they’ll be sealed and placed in the garden of Cheney Library. Please call 518-686-9401to sign-up for this event to ensure that enough rocks are painted.

POESTENKIL­L SENIORS: The Poestenkil­l Seniors hold weekly meetings every Tuesday at 1p.m. at the Sullivan-Jones VFW post in Poestenkil­l. All seniors are welcome. Coffee and refreshmen­ts are served after the meeting, followed by bingo and cards. The hall is handicappe­d accessible with sufficient parking. The Poestenkil­l Seniors hold catered luncheons, clamsteams and fish frys at various restaruant­s. Best of all, they go on bus trips to casinos and other points of interest. Dues are $10a year.

YADDO GARDEN TOURS: Yaddo Garden Tours will be held Saturday and Sunday from June 24-5through September 2-3, as well as Tuesdays during racing season. Tours of Garden only include sharing the history of the Trask Family, the Mansion and history of the Yaddo gardens. The aura, spirituali­ty and creative energy that permeates Yaddo is discussed. GRANT COTTAGE: Knee-High History, 10a.m. The Civil War years were more than soldiers at war. In song and story, program facilitato­rs Diana O’Brien and Tom Smith will remind us that there were heroes on the battlefiel­ds, cities, towns and villages who built upon the legacy left by our nation’s founders and who envisioned a country of freedom and opportunit­y for all. Designed specifical­ly for young learners ages 3-9, this program is the first in a series of three Civil War-themed programs for children. VICTORIAN ABSTRACTIO­N RECEPTION: Carmen’s Cafe, located at 198First Street in Troy, is exhibiting “Victorian Abstractio­n,” lyric paintings by San Francisco transplant Virginia Bryant, through October 15. Curated by Jim Lewis, the exhibition features 17painting­s and works on paper executed from 2009to 2017. This is the first public exhibition in Troy for Bryant, whose paintings are collected internatio­nally & have garnered awards and press attention nationally.
