LATHAM - Marie P. Hammarstro­m, of Latham, beloved wife of the late William H. Hammarstro­m entered into eternal life on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at the Community Hospice Eddy Heritage House in Troy.

Born in Troy, NY on March 2, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Charles L. and Theresa ( Verstraete­n) Peetz. Marie received her Master’s Degree from the State University at Oneonta. She was the beloved wife of the late William H. Hammarstro­m who died on November 8, 1995. Marie was a kindergart­en teacher with the Lansingbur­gh School District for many years. She also worked for the City of Troy Department of Recreation for many years during the summers. She and her late husband were the owners and operators of Latham Corners Crafts Associates for many years. She was very dedicated and had a special love of her family and enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include her loving children Joan M. Hagglove of Halfmoon, William C. (Barbara) Hammarstro­m of Latham and Carla (Blaise Thomas) Letteer of Delanson, her four cherished grandchild­ren Jill (James) Hagglove Senecal, Bonnie (Shawn) Hagglove MacKinnon, Erik ((Julie) Hagglove and Mat-Mat thew Letteer, her seven adored great-grandchild­ren Joseph, Madison and Casey MacKinnon, Jason and Carson Hagglove and Jameson and Eve Senecal. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Marie was predecease­d by her sisters Patricia L. Potts, Frances Hart and Dorothy Wright.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday August 24, 2017 at 10:00 am in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham with Rev. Geoffrey Burke officiatin­g.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call Wednesday August 23, 2017 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Fu-F neral Home 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.

Interment will be next to her beloved husband in Oakwood Cemetery Troy.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff of the 3rd and 4th floors of the Eddy-Heritage House and staff of the Community Hospice for the love and care shown to Marie during her time with them.
