Two information meetings set in Troy
TROY, N. Y> >> Troy City Council President Carmella Mantello announced Friday that two informational community meetings have been scheduled.
The first meeting, for residents of the Sycaway neighborhood, will take place from 6 to 8 p. m. Tuesday, Sept. 26 at School 18. The second, for Lansinburgh residents, will take place from 6 to 8 p. m. Tuesday, Oct. 10.
“With the success of a couple hundred residents attending the prior two informational meetings held in the Eastside and South Troy neighborhoods, this is a great opportunity for Troy folks to meet all council members, the mayor, and supervisors and department heads all in one room in other parts of our city,” Mantello said. “Folks will have an opportunity to ask questions of their elected and public officials, and raise neighborhood concerns and issues.”
Some issues Mantello envisions will be discussed in the Sycayway area is Hoosick Street traffic and walkability near schools and businesses, Frear Park Golf Course and Park entryways and other neighborhood issues. In Lansinburgh, Mantello mentioned issues such as escalated crime, the future of Leonard Hospital, code enforcement, and other neighborhood issues will be discussed.
“Certain members of the council and I are working very hard to ensure transparency and open government. Sometimes city hall can be stuffy, formal, and intimidating. This format allows a more informal discussion and brings government to the people of Troy,” Mantello said.
