Weaver to coach HVCC baseball

TORY, N. Y. » Fort Plain grad Jabin Weaver was named the new baseball coach at Hudson Valley Community College by Director of Athletics Justin Hoyt Tuesday.

Weaver returns to the Capital District after serving as graduate assistant and director of player development with the West Virginia baseball program. He was part of a Mountaineer team that was given an at- large bid to the NCAA regional tournament for the first time in 21 years. WVU went to Winston Salem, N. C., as the No. 2 seed and lost to host Wake Forest in the regional final.

Prior to WVU, Weaver was an assistant at Division II Fairmont State University in Fairmont, West Virginia. Fairmont State enjoyed at 21- win season with Weaver, including a win against Division I Georgia State at home. Following the Fairmont State season, Weaver

was the pitching coach for the Saratoga Stampede in the Thruway Collegiate Baseball League.

Weaver star ted his coaching career during the summer of 2015 as head coach of the Morris J. Edwards Post 168 17U Legion team and took over the program in 2016 as head coach of the 19U Legion Team. His teams compiled a combined record of 39- 13, including a run to the District finals in 2015.

In high school Weaver starred at at Dolgeville Central and Fort Plain High School. He went on to pitch at Division II East Stroudsburg University. During his freshman season at ESU, Weaver was second on the team with a 3.96 ERA and finished with a 2- 1 record and fanned 20 batters. In 25 innings pitched, opposing bat ters hit just .217 with Weaver on the hill. At Fort Plain, Weaver was a part of two teams to make the sectional finals, including the 2011 squad that won the championhsip at Joe Bruno Stadium. He also played two seasons with the Adirondack Trail Blazers of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League.

Jabin received his Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management from East Stroudsburg University and has a Master’s of Science in Sport Science and Athletic Coaching Education from West Virginia University. He is engaged to Victoria Stella of Fort Plain.
