TROY – Edward “Ned” F. Malone Sr. died on Septem - ber 16, 2017 at the Eddy Vilon lage Green in Cohoes.

Ned was born in Troy, NY May 17th, 1924 and re - sided in Brunswick for the past 45 years. He was the son of the late Edward J. Malone and Dorothy Be - bernitz Malone. On July 11th 1948 he married Joan Marie Kane Malone.

Ned attended Lansingbur­gh schools and graduated from the Veterans Vocational School ( forerunner to HVCC) and Russell Sage Junior College. His first employment was his fam - ily’s milk route in Troy, Green Island & Watervliet, later at the Watervliet Ar - senal all prior to WWII. After the war he became a NYS Department of Trans - portation employee on the Erie Canal for 34 years as well as a licensed Real Es - tate Broker for 32 years.

He was a WW II veteran serving in the CBI theatre of the war, attaining the rank of Staff Sargent.

Over the years he was aci tive in many fraternal and veterans organizati­onsi such as the DAV, the CBI Veterans, VFW, the Veter - ans of Lansingbur­gh, Spieothers. gel Elders, the Friends of 112th Street and numerous

Ned was predecease­d by his wife Joan, his son Michael J. his sister Doro - thy E. Cuerdon and one grandchild. He is survived by three sons and their wives, Edward F. ( Debo - rah) Malone Sr. of Brunsof wick, Stephen A. ( Carol) Malone of Sand Lake and Mark K. ( Maria) Malone Rotterdam, 9 grandchil - dren and 9 great grandchil Constance dren. He is also survived by his brother Lawrence B. ( Barbara) Malone of Guilderlan­d and his sister Constance A. LaPosta of Troy. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm at the Frank P. McDon - ald & Son Funeral Home 870 Second Avenue ( 124th & 125th Streets) in Lan - singburgh. Funeral service will be on Thursday at 11 am in the Funeral Home and at 12 pm in the Ger - ald BH Solomon National Cemetery in Schuylervi­lle with full military honors.
