Where’s the support for LaSalle football?

-

As a Troy High alumnus who made the trip to LaSalle’s Sutton Field for the first time on Sept. 15, I couldn’t help but notice how the home bleachers weren’t filled to capacity, while Troy supporters filled the visitors’ bleachers. Where is the support for the Cadets? This is a in- city rivalry that was revived in football a year ago at Picken Field, and the lack of support for the Cadets, home and away, just boggles the mind.

Now, I realize that LaSalle has gone through a rough stretch in football of late, but the school is coming off a sectional hockey championship earned 7 months ago after the skating Cadets had endured two difficult seasons of their own. Once they started winning last winter, they began filling the bleachers for every home game.

So why the lack of support for the football team? I wish I had a clue. Both LaSalle & Troy have Homecoming on Sept. 22, and having been at Troy for Homecoming the last two years, I know the bleachers will be packed to the gills. I wonder if the same will be said for LaSalle. I just don’t know.
