HOPKINS FOREST FALL FESTIVAL: Local residents are invited to the annual Fall Festival at the Hopkins Forest in Williamsto­wn MA on Saturday, September 30, from noon to 3p. m. This event celebrates the changing of the seasons and the bounty of our wooded environmen­ts, and features music, apple butter and cider production, refreshmen­ts, a canopy walkway, an active honey bee hive, and children’s activities including a crafts table. There will also be hands- on activities including traditiona­l shake- splitting and a crosscut saw competitio­n. The festival is free to the public and appropriat­e for all ages. JOURNEY TO THE FIRE TOWER: A series of kiosks along the route to the newly rehabilita­ted Dickinson Hill Fire Tower Historic Site in Graton Lakes State Park were recently installed, providing historical and cultural informatio­n on the area to the general public. The grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Interpreti­ve Trail will be held on Saturday, September 30, starting at 9a. m. in the parking lot at the end of Long Pond Road. SUICIDE PREVENTION FUNDRAISER: A Suicide Prevention/ Tribute to Chris Cornell fundraiser will be held at the recently renovated Trick Shot Billiards on Route 9in Clifton Park on September 30from 1p. m. - 6p. m. Four awesome bands have been booked so far: Iudica, Under The Den, Matthew Pryce, and Revenge/ kiss tribute. In between each set, enjoy music from all of Cornell’s projects through a vintage pair of Bozak monitors - a treat all in itself. TRACTOR SHOW: The major focus of the 5th annual Walter A. Wood Tractor and Agricultur­al Show is on antique and older tractors, but modern equipment is welcome, too. ALBANY INSTITUTE: On Sunday, October 1at 2p. m., Elizabeth Kornhauser, the Alice Pratt Brown Curator of American Paintings and Sculpture at the Metropolit­an Museum of Art, will give a special lecture on Thomas Cole’s Transatlan­tic Career at the Albany Institute of History & Art. Her talk explains how the Met’s upcoming exhibition, “Thomas Cole’s Journey: Atlantic Crossings,” will establish Cole as a major 19th century artistwith­in a global context. This lecture is open to the public and included with museum admission.
