2 accused of assaulting worker
Police say men stole tip jar for Route 4 Pizza
NORTH GREENBUSH, N. Y. » Two men were arrested Friday after police said they assaulted a man who pursued the mafter they stole the tip jar from a pizza shop.
North Greenbush police Chief Robert Durivage said officers were called to Route 4 Pizza about 1: 55 p. m. Friday after two men walked out with a tipjar containing an unspecified amount of cash. A store employee pursued the men in an attempt to retrieve the jar, Durivage said, but was assaulted by the two before they fled with the stolen money.
Police stopped the vehicle the suspects escaped in a short distance from the scene, Durivage said, and themen were taken into custody without incident. The injured employee, meanwhile, was treated and released from a local hospital.
Elliott A. Croskey, 21 of State Street, Albany, was charged with two felony counts of second- degree robbery, as well as misdemeanor charges of third- degree assault and petit larceny, while John O. Duru, 18, of Eastview Drive, Watervliet, was charged
with one felony count of second- degree robbery, a misdemeanor petit larceny charge and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violationlevel offense.
Both men were arrigned in North Greenbush Town Court, with Croskey remanded to the Rensselaer County jail and Duru released to the Rensselaer County Probation Department.
North Greenbush police was assisted at the scene by state, East Greenbush and Troy police.
