Troy retains No. 1 ranking

Undefeated Troy High (60) retained its No. 1 position in Wednesday morning’s large school (Class AA) New York State Sportswrit­er poll, no surprise after the Flying Horses’ 40-15 win over Shaker (5-1).

Saratoga (6-0) moved up five spots to No. 20 after a 40-12 win over Albany High (0-6) while the Shaker fell from its previous spot at No. 15 down to No. 26 in the 30-team poll.

Colonie (5-1) and Shenendeho­wa (5-1) were again honorable mentions.

Class A

In Class A Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake (6-0) also remained at No. 5 in the poll after a 50-7 win over Amsterdam (3-3). Averill Park (51) moved up five spots to No. 15 after a 35-26 win over Queensbury.

Queensbury (3-3) and South Glens Falls were both honorable mentions.

Class B

Glens Falls (6-0) also stayed on top of the Class B NYS poll after its 27-14 win over Schuylervi­lle last week. The loss dropped the Black Horses (5-1) to No. 9 in the poll.

Cobleskill-Richmondvi­lle (5-1),

Hudson (4-2) and Hudson Falls (4-2) were honorable mentions.

Class C

To the winner goes the spoils as Holy Trinity (5-1) moved up one spot to No. 11 in the Class C poll after a 48-19 win over Hoosick Falls last week. Indian Bowl winner Stillwater (51) jumps up three spots to No. 12 after its 48-13 win over former No. 4 Mechanicvi­lle,

who fell to No. 13 in this week’s poll. Voorheesvi­lle (5-1) moved up from honorable mention status to No. 17 this week.

Chatham (4-2) Hoosick Falls (4-2) and Watervliet (5-1) were honorable mentions.

Class D

Greenwich (6-0) remained at No. 3 in the Class D poll after its 42-3 win over Whitehall. Cambridge (5-1) stayed at No. 5 after a 58-0 win over Cambridge.
