Chris Newkirk, a culinary student at the Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical School from Shenendehowa High School, checks out one of the multitude of donations made to the Puerto Rico Relief effort at BOCES. Capital Region BOCES joined forces with the Puerto Rico Disaster Relief Team of the Capital Region, a regional collaboration between area organizations that include the Capital Region Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Albany Latin Festival Association, Fundabilities, the City of Albany Poverty Reduction Initiative, Centro Civico and the Capital District chapter of 100 Hispanic Women. BOCES students made posters and collection boxes and distributed them to several locations to Capital Region BOCES CTE campuses at 1015 Watervliet-Shaker Road in Albany and 174 state Route 30A in Schoharie, the Center for Advanced Technology at Mohonasen, 400 Warrior Way, Rotterdam, and BOCES central administrative offices at 900 Watervliet-Shaker Road in Albany. Requested items include batteries, flashlights, portable lanterns, diapers, baby wipes, cases of water and feminine hygiene products. All items must be packaged and unopened.
