To­day is dead­line for voter regis­tra­tion

AL­BANY, N.Y. » Fri­day is the dead­line for all New York state res­i­dents to reg­is­ter to vote in the Nov. 7 gen­eral elec­tion.

Ac­cord­ing to the state Board ofg Elec­tions, mail-in voter regis­tra­tion forms must be post­marked by mid­night Fri­day and re­ceived by the lo­cal board of elec­tions no later than Wed­nes­day to be valid for the up­com­ing elec­tion.

A voter regis­tra­tion form can be down­loaded at www. elec­tions.ny.gov, or state res­i­dents can reg­is­ter on­line through the MyDMV web­site hosted by the state Depart­ment of Mo­tor Ve­hi­cles at http://dmv.ny.gov/mydmv/ mydmv. En­roll­ment forms can also be found at most state and fed­eral gov­ern­ment of­fices, in ad­di­tion to post of­fice and lo­cal li­braries.

Res­i­dents who have moved to a new county within the state must re-reg­is­ter at their new ad­dress, while those who are cur­rently reg­is­tered and have moved within the same county should no­tify their county board of elec­tions in writ­ing of their move no later than Wed­nes­day. The dead­line to change party en­roll­ment to par­tic­i­pate in a pri­mary next year is also Fri­day.
