Today is deadline for voter registrati­on

ALBANY, N.Y. » Friday is the deadline for all New York state residents to register to vote in the Nov. 7 general election.

According to the state Board ofg Elections, mail-in voter registrati­on forms must be postmarked by midnight Friday and received by the local board of elections no later than Wednesday to be valid for the upcoming election.

A voter registrati­on form can be downloaded at www. elections.ny.gov, or state residents can register online through the MyDMV website hosted by the state Department of Motor Vehicles at http://dmv.ny.gov/mydmv/ mydmv. Enrollment forms can also be found at most state and federal government offices, in addition to post office and local libraries.

Residents who have moved to a new county within the state must re-register at their new address, while those who are currently registered and have moved within the same county should notify their county board of elections in writing of their move no later than Wednesday. The deadline to change party enrollment to participat­e in a primary next year is also Friday.
