CCHS tennis tops Hud­son

Catholic High’s girls tennis team won three sin­gles matches and both dou­bles con­tests to beat Hud­son 5-2 in a Sec­tion II Class B semi­fi­nal Wed­nes­day. The win im­proved the Cru­saders to 6-8 on the sea­son and earned them a spot in Thurs­day’s fi­nal against Ich­a­bod Crane. SHAKER 78 » The Blue Streaks’ Ju­lia Hawthorne won the 200 freestyle race and team­mate Kayla LaHart touched out a Shaker swim­mer for sec­ond in the race. Saratoga Springs’ El­lie Baird was a four-event win­ner with first-place fin­ishes in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free re­lay and 400 free re­lay. Se­nior Ni­cole Mur­phy won the 200 in­di­vid­ual med­ley in a close race while eighth-grader Rachel Love won 500 free.

The win im­proves the Blue Streaks to 5-3 this sea­son.

AL­BANY ACADEMY 4, WATER­VLIET 0 » Conor Smith scored twice as the Cadets jumped out to a 3-0 firsthalf lead and never looked back in a Colo­nial Coun­cil con­test. Water­vliet’s Justin Cus­son had a match-high eight saves.

ME­CHAN­ICVILLE 7, HOOSICK FALLS 1 » The Red Raiders (12-0-1 Wasaren, 140-1 over­all) re­mained un­de­feated with a home rout of the Pan­thers. Su­per striker Macken­zie Bowie scored two goals to notch her 100th goal for Me­chan­icville var­sity. Brynn Mur­phy added two goals, three as­sists and Jada Brown added a hat trick and one as­sist for the hosts. Dar­ian Mor­gan scored for Falls to avoid the shutout. STILL­WA­TER 6, GREEN­WICH 0

Still­wa­ter’s Brooke Pick­ett put away four in the first half to lead a War­riors rout over the Witches. Keelyn Pea­cock added to goals in the sec­ond half for Still­wa­ter while Teya Staie and Cas­sidy Shee­han pro­vided as­sists. Syd­ney Frank earned the shutout for the hosts with three saves and Devin Drew fin­ished with 11 saves for Green­wich.

Field hockey

COLUMBIA 2, NISKAYUNA 1 » Jessy Black­burn and Marie El­ben scored for the Blue Devils on as­sists from Re­nee Smith and Colleen Kennedy for the hosts’ sec­ond win of the year. Kris­ten Wurth had the goal for the Sil­ver War­riors.

SARATOGA SPRINGS 5, SHAKER 0 » Jessie House scored a hat trick and Lind­say Frank added a goal and a hat trick of as­sists as the Blue Streaks im­proved to 12-2 in Sub­ur­ban Coun­cil play. Emily Leonard added

a goal and an as­sist for Saratoga Springs and goal­keep­ers Re­nee Bana­gan and Kris­ten Rodecker com­bined for seven saves in the shutout.

Shaker’s Kelly Fitz­patrick made eight saves and Emma Roberts fin­ished with two in the cage for the Blue Bi­son (3-10). SHENEN­DE­HOWA 1, BURNT HILLS-BALL­STON LAKE 0

(OT) » El­iza Branch scored af­ter the game went to 7v7 in over­time to com­plete the Plains­men’s un­de­feated (150) run through the Sub­ur­ban Coun­cil. Olivia Howard had the as­sist and Shen goalie Sheri­dan Messier made 10 saves. Rachel Kamp­pila had four saves for the Spar­tans (13-3).

Girls volleyball

CATHOLIC CEN­TRAL 3, LANSINGBURGH 0 » Catholic High swept Lansingburgh 25-18, 25-15, 25-23 in a Colo­nial Coun­cil con­test. Me­gan Ru­me­napp fin­ished

with five aces, 13 as­sists, six digs, and 10 kills to lead the Cru­saders, Emma Voska tal­lied five kills and Mag­gie He­lenek fin­ished with four kills and four digs.

Lansingburgh’s Al­iza­dia Tay­lor had 16 as­sists, one ace and Cam­ryn O’Hara added five aces, four kills and four digs. ME­CHAN­ICVILLE 3, TA­MA­RAC

1» The Red Raiders earned a Wasaren League win over the Ben­gals 25-22, 28-26, 1225, 25-19. Lyn­d­say Robens led Me­chan­icville with four aces and six kills and Alivia Wood added 10 kills.

Ta­ma­rac’s Ju­lia Mi­los tal­lied four kills, two blocks and 14 as­sists while team­mate Gabby Cel­lucci had six kills, three digs and Ke­ri­anne Bug­bee had six blocks, two kills.

The Spar­tans rolled to a 25-12, 25-10,25-9 Sub­ur­ban Coun­cil win to im­prove to 11-0 in league play and 18-4 over­all.

Lind­sey De­bo­nis led the Burnt Hills with 10 kills and two aces and Avery Pol­lard had 28 as­sists. Ni­cole McGrath had three kills, six digs, two blocks for Guilderland (7-4).

Boys volleyball

SHENEN­DE­HOWA 3, BETHLEHEM 0 » Shen de­feated Bethlehem Var­sity 25-16, 26-24 and 25-9. Shen was led by Bren­dan Spul­nick’s 22 kills and five aces while Dy­lan Ur­ban­ski had 39 as­sists. Bethlehem was led by Michael Or­tale’s 12 kills and Caleb Fe­d­er­man’s 19 as­sists. Shen im­proved to 11-0 in Sub­ur­ban Coun­cil play.
