CCHS tennis tops Hudson

Catholic High’s girls tennis team won three singles matches and both doubles contests to beat Hudson 5-2 in a Section II Class B semifinal Wednesday. The win improved the Crusaders to 6-8 on the season and earned them a spot in Thursday’s final against Ichabod Crane. SHAKER 78 » The Blue Streaks’ Julia Hawthorne won the 200 freestyle race and teammate Kayla LaHart touched out a Shaker swimmer for second in the race. Saratoga Springs’ Ellie Baird was a four-event winner with first-place finishes in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free relay and 400 free relay. Senior Nicole Murphy won the 200 individual medley in a close race while eighth-grader Rachel Love won 500 free.

The win improves the Blue Streaks to 5-3 this season.

Boys soccer

ALBANY ACADEMY 4, WATERVLIET 0 » Conor Smith scored twice as the Cadets jumped out to a 3-0 firsthalf lead and never looked back in a Colonial Council contest. Watervliet’s Justin Cusson had a match-high eight saves.

MECHANICVI­LLE 7, HOOSICK FALLS 1 » The Red Raiders (12-0-1 Wasaren, 140-1 overall) remained undefeated with a home rout of the Panthers. Super striker Mackenzie Bowie scored two goals to notch her 100th goal for Mechanicvi­lle varsity. Brynn Murphy added two goals, three assists and Jada Brown added a hat trick and one assist for the hosts. Darian Morgan scored for Falls to avoid the shutout. STILLWATER 6, GREENWICH 0

Stillwater’s Brooke Pickett put away four in the first half to lead a Warriors rout over the Witches. Keelyn Peacock added to goals in the second half for Stillwater while Teya Staie and Cassidy Sheehan provided assists. Sydney Frank earned the shutout for the hosts with three saves and Devin Drew finished with 11 saves for Greenwich.

Field hockey

COLUMBIA 2, NISKAYUNA 1 » Jessy Blackburn and Marie Elben scored for the Blue Devils on assists from Renee Smith and Colleen Kennedy for the hosts’ second win of the year. Kristen Wurth had the goal for the Silver Warriors.

SARATOGA SPRINGS 5, SHAKER 0 » Jessie House scored a hat trick and Lindsay Frank added a goal and a hat trick of assists as the Blue Streaks improved to 12-2 in Suburban Council play. Emily Leonard added

a goal and an assist for Saratoga Springs and goalkeeper­s Renee Banagan and Kristen Rodecker combined for seven saves in the shutout.

Shaker’s Kelly Fitzpatric­k made eight saves and Emma Roberts finished with two in the cage for the Blue Bison (3-10). SHENENDEHO­WA 1, BURNT HILLS-BALLSTON LAKE 0

(OT) » Eliza Branch scored after the game went to 7v7 in overtime to complete the Plainsmen’s undefeated (150) run through the Suburban Council. Olivia Howard had the assist and Shen goalie Sheridan Messier made 10 saves. Rachel Kamppila had four saves for the Spartans (13-3).

Girls volleyball

CATHOLIC CENTRAL 3, LANSINGBUR­GH 0 » Catholic High swept Lansingbur­gh 25-18, 25-15, 25-23 in a Colonial Council contest. Megan Rumenapp finished

with five aces, 13 assists, six digs, and 10 kills to lead the Crusaders, Emma Voska tallied five kills and Maggie Helenek finished with four kills and four digs.

Lansingbur­gh’s Alizadia Taylor had 16 assists, one ace and Camryn O’Hara added five aces, four kills and four digs. MECHANICVI­LLE 3, TAMARAC

1» The Red Raiders earned a Wasaren League win over the Bengals 25-22, 28-26, 1225, 25-19. Lyndsay Robens led Mechanicvi­lle with four aces and six kills and Alivia Wood added 10 kills.

Tamarac’s Julia Milos tallied four kills, two blocks and 14 assists while teammate Gabby Cellucci had six kills, three digs and Kerianne Bugbee had six blocks, two kills.

BURNT HILLS-BALLSTON

LAKE 3, GUILDERLAN­D 0 »

The Spartans rolled to a 25-12, 25-10,25-9 Suburban Council win to improve to 11-0 in league play and 18-4 overall.

Lindsey Debonis led the Burnt Hills with 10 kills and two aces and Avery Pollard had 28 assists. Nicole McGrath had three kills, six digs, two blocks for Guilderlan­d (7-4).

Boys volleyball

SHENENDEHO­WA 3, BETHLEHEM 0 » Shen defeated Bethlehem Varsity 25-16, 26-24 and 25-9. Shen was led by Brendan Spulnick’s 22 kills and five aces while Dylan Urbanski had 39 assists. Bethlehem was led by Michael Ortale’s 12 kills and Caleb Federman’s 19 assists. Shen improved to 11-0 in Suburban Council play.

Men’s college soccer

BROOME 3, HVCC 2 » Darmien Rutan scored twice as Broome (11-3) edged HVCC (8-5). Collin Skiff and Ethan Thomas scored for the Vikings in defeat.
