Blue Streaks No. 1 seed in Class AA

The Saratoga Springs varsity soccer team was rewarded for finishing the season with the best record in the Suburban Council with the No. 1 overall seed for the Section II Class AA tournament and a bye into the quarterfin­al round.

No. 10 state-ranked Saratoga (12-1-2) will host the winner of No. 9 Ballston Spa (7-8) at No. 8 La Salle Saturday at 1 p.m.

Other top seeds Shaker (122-1) and Shenendeho­wa (11-31) also earned first round byes before hosting matches in the quarterfin­als on Saturday.

No. 4 seeded CBA (11-3-1) opens at home against Colonie (5-10) at 3 p.m. on Thursday while No. 5 Bethlehem (83-4) hosts No. 12 Troy (5-9-1) at 7 p.m. later that night.

Bethlehem and Shen are co-defending champs after their sectional final ended as a tie last season. The Eagles advanced to the state tournament after a penalty kick shootout.

Class A

No. 1 state-ranked and undefeated Queensbury (16-0) was also awarded the top seed for the Class A tournament, which begins its first round Wednesday.

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake was given the No. 2 seed for finishing 7-8 in Suburban Council play and will open the postseason with a quarterfin­al game at home against No. 7 Averill Park (2-11-2).

The No. 3 seed went to Mohonasen (4-10), No. 4 to Albany Academy and No. 5 to South Glens Falls

Class B

No. 15 state-ranked Schuylervi­lle (14-2) earned the No. 2 seed and a bye to the quarterfin­als after its only losses came to Class A Queensbury this season. Undefeated Ichabod Crane (15-0-1) earned the No. 1 seed and a bye.

Wasaren League champs Mechanicvi­lle were seeded fourth

and will open the postseason at home against No. 13 Catholic Central at 7 p.m. Wednesday night. League rivals No. 7 Tamarac

also earned a home date against No. 10 Cobleskill-Richmondvi­lle.

Class CC

The top seeds in the Class CC are No. 1 Greenville, No. 2 Lake George, No. 3 Greenwich, No. 4 Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons and No. 5 Chatham.

Sixth-seeded Stillwater earned a home game against No. 11 Granville in a match-up of former league rivals while fellow Wasaren League foes No. 9 Hoosic Valley, No. 10 Hoosick Falls and No. 12 Saratoga Catholic each hit the road.

Class C

Mayfield earned the top seed in the Cs followed by No. 2 Maple Hill, No. 3 Galway

and No. 4 Cambridge.

Class D

Fort Ann was named the top seed in Class D followed by No. 2 O-E-SJ and

No. 3 Loudonvill­e Christian.
