Catholic High tops Ichabod Crane 3-1

The Catholic Central varsity girls volleyball team earned a 3-1 win over Ichabod Crane in a Colonial Council girls volleyball contest.

The Crusaders split the first two games with the Riders 25-17, 9-25 before claiming the last two 18-25, 18-25.

Megan Rumenapp led Catholic Central with 28 Assists, six aces and two blocks, teammate Julia Tenney had four aces, nine kills and 14 digs, Lia Casale had eight kills and 13 digs, and Bella Fanning finished with five kills and three blocks.

Dell Potts had 12 kills, three blocks and nine digs on her senior night for Ichabod Crane and fellow senior Celia Gagnon added four kills

The Averill Park girls volleyball team picked up a win over Niskayuna in a 25-21, 25-17, 25-17 sweep Monday night in a Suburban Council contest.

The Warriors (11-3) were led by Steph Jankovic’s 27 digs, Sydney Jones’ 26 assists and Maddy Duni-

nigan 13 kills and blocks.

Niskayuna (7-5) got four aces and 12 assists from Katie Atchinson 4 aces, 13 kills from Stefana Stan and four kills form Christie Brown.

BURNT HILLS-BALLSTON

The Spartans beat the Blue Streaks 25-11, 25-12, 25-8 in a Suburban Council contest. Myla Dobson led Burnt Hills with eight kills, three blocks, while teammate Hannah Shell had nine kills. Saratoga’s Briann Barringer finished with three kills, seven digs, Elizabeth McGinn had four assists, four digs and Goldie Hellman added five kills, two digs. The Blue Bison beat the Warriors 25-23, 19-25, 2522, 25-22. Olivia Fazio had five kills and three digs to lead Shaker (7-5) while teammate Hannah Malicki had three aces, five kills, 15 assists and five digs, and Samantha Hardwick tallied nine kills, two blocks and five digs.

GUILDERLAN­D 3, TROY 0 » The Dutchmen (8-5) clinched a spot in sectionals with their eighth win of the season, a 25-21, 25-9, 25-13 sweep of Troy High.

Peyton Legg recorded two aces, three kills and seven assists for Guilderlan­d and teammates Amber Nunizato had one ace, three kills and two blocks, Julz Venduro had three kills and two digs, and Sandi Eldeiry provided five assists.

No stats were reported for Troy High (1-10). SHENENDEHO­WA 3, SCHENECTAD­Y 0 » The Plainsmen beat the Patriots 254, 25-11, 25-6 to improve their Suburban Council record to 14-0 on their senior night. On Shen, Nicole Adams had three aces, 16 kills and three blocks, Mary Talty had eight aces and five kills, Hannah Feit

had 24 assists, and Charlotte Macken had two aces and five digs.

The Scotties swept the Eagles 25-22, 26-24, 2515. Megan McMahon led Ballston Spa with 10 kills and 10 assists while Ang Stile had 16 digs, Madi Amico had nine aces and 13 digs, and Jill Nitchman added eight kills. The Bengals beat the Warriors 25-16, 25-14, 26-24 Monday. Halle Brust had 18 digs for Tamarac while Alexa Phillips added three kills, Hailey Hansen had five kills, four blocks and 10 digs, and Isabella Realbuto contribute­d eight aces and six digs.

Holy Names swept Lansingbur­gh 2514, 25-18, 25-19 in a Colonial Council match. Individual stats were not provided for either team.

South Glens Falls defeated Galway by the scores of 26-28, 21-25, 2325 to improve to 13-0. The non-league contest was just the second loss for Galway (10-2). South High was led by Annika Kreppein with 17 kills and nine digs, while Mackenzie Collier added 13 kills and 14 digs, and Taylor Wells provided 39 assists.

Galway was led by Lindsey Zawisa with 14 kills, 10 points and 21 digs. Carlee Hortsmann had 10 kills, 3 blocks and 11 service points. Emma Smith chipped in 8 kills, 16 digs and 9 points. BH-BL defeated Guilderlan­d by the scores of 25-16, 25-16 and 25-18. The Spartans (11-1 Suburban Council, 16-3 overall) were led by Brad Albright’s 10 kills, two aces and one block, Jake Baker’s nine kills, four aces and one block, and Derek Haughey provided 30 assists and one block for the victors. No states were

provided for the Dutchmen (2-10, 4-10).

The Mechanicvi­lle Red Raiders and Cambridge Indians played Saturday night for the Wasaren League Championsh­ip. The Red Raiders got goals from Zach Rapaccioul­o, Chris Ciccarelli and Jeff Luce (his 30th of the year) to earn a 3-2 win. Tyler Kraszewski had 10 saves in the game for Mechanicvi­lle. Carter Hall scored twice for Cambridge and Cody Oldham had 12 saves in the loss.

The Red Raiders finished the regular season with a 14-1-1 overall record and 13-0-1 in the league.

Stillwater got two goals form Scott Travis and one apiece from Grant Baker and Jake Zdonick in a Wasaren League crossover game at Stillwater. Derrick Kehn and Zach Ryan scored for Valley. TAMARAC

Tamarac scored three first half goals and added one in the second half to beat Waterford 4-0 in a Wasaren League crossover game Saturday. Bengals goals were scored by Ryley Hisert, Dylan Bricetti, Sean Christian, and Tyler Nemjo. Mike Thomas and Jon Burris combined for 13 saves for Waterford and Tyler Petersen had 10 saves for Tamarac.

Saratoga Catholic was awarded two penalty kicks in the first half and Dante Marin converted both to make it 2-0 at the break. Early in the second half, the Saints’ Ben Urbaetis ripped a 30yard shot that got by the keeper. Later in the half, Hoosick Fall’s David Everard finished a breakaway to get the Panthers on the board. Hoosick Falls continued to press late in the second half, but they couldn’t find the back of the net again.
