COHOES, N.Y. » Families looking for something for everyone to enjoy this weekend will have the opportunity to do just that during the Spindle City’s first annual falls fest Saturday.

The festival is being hosted by the city of Cohoes and will take place from noon until 6 p.m. at Craner Park on North Mohawk Street on Saturday.

Mayor Shawn Morse said there will be something for people of all ages to enjoy during the festival. Morse said there will be a kid’s zone designated at the park from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., with carnival games, face-painting, balloons, pumpkin decorating and the pumpkin jubilee. For adults, Morse said, there will be a beer truck, tons of food and other vendors along with live music during the day with EB Jeb and EVO2.

“This is just another great example of all of the things we’re trying to do to bring our community together,” Morse said. “We just had the Howl-O-Ween event and we had a full summer of concerts in the Canal Square and we’ve had a packed Cohoes Music Hall, we’ve had incredible sporting and recreation activities throughout the whole summer and that continues now with over a hundred kids participating in our flag football.”

Morse said that he anticipates having thousands of people come to the Craner Park Saturday in the park, which is only a couple hundred feet from the scenic Cohoes Falls site. Morse also noted how Craner Park is not a park that gets used for community events a lot in the past and how he wanted to utilize this park in the city too.

“It’s going to be great opportunity to listen to some good music and enjoy this incredible October weather and have a good time,” Morse said. “The park is about a hundred foot from the Cohoes Falls, if you wanted to see the falls, you could walk over to the falls to see them. Craner Park is a place that really hasn’t had any kind of recreation in this mass, so I wanted to make sure that we spread these incredible opportunities throughout the whole city.”

Morse said he enjoys being able to see the community come out to events like this and be able

to meet each other and for himself to be able to hear first-hand from residents.

“We want Cohoes to be known as a designation for people to come and visit and a place for Cohoes residents to say, ‘man we’ve got a lot things happening all the time’ and you get to meet your neighbors and as the mayor I get to hear people talk about the good things and the bad things,” Morse said.
